Teen Titans Go! Season 1 Part 1 DVD Coming This March

by SuperHeroHype

January 07, 2014

Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network have announced this morning that the new animated series Teen Titans GO! is headed to DVD. Featuring all 13 episodes from the first half of the show's first season, Teen Titans GO! Mission to Misbehave will be released March 4, 2014.

The principal voice cast from the original Teen Titans series, based on DC Comics characters, reprise their roles in Teen Titans GO!, with Scott Menville as the voice of Robin, the slightly power-mad perfectionist and leader of the Teen Titans. Hynden Walch voices Starfire, an alien struggling to fit in; Tara Strong voices Raven, the sardonic, deadpan demon girl; Greg Cipes returns as the slightly dim but always loveable loafer, Beast Boy; and Khary Payton provides the voice of Cyborg, a laidback kid who is half teen, half robot.

Teen Titans GO! airs on Tuesdays at 7:30/6:30c.

Pass.

It's fun to watch, but I have no desire to add them to my collection.

Let me know what you thought of it. On the one hand, it's pretty silly, but there are A LOT of Easter Eggs for older fans, especially in the backgrounds (posters, signage, computer screens).

Through the first disc-- and its clearly written for the preteen crowd and yes it borders on the absurd--as each character has now gone to the overplayed extreme level of their character flaws and unconnected storylines and non consequential endings (they all die in one episode)..

But I still like when they shoehorn in characters from the first series (like Mother Mae Eye and Jinx)-- and the one second freeze frame gags enough to make it enjoyable for me, Like the Voltron Yellow Lion Leg as an alternate armor for Cyborg, Deadman crawling for a canteen of water under Starfire's bed, the Ras Al' Ghul sarcophagus and the constant appearance of Batman and Gordon, doing guy stuff (like fishing)-- not to mention they are actually able to say Batman on this version.

Although I enjoy most cartoons (although most of the the god awful current cartoon network not included), and watch cartoons over live action TV as much as possible, so I may be the last one to ask..

The show is brilliant in its absurdity.

The Burger v Burrito debate? Awesome!
Robin accepting the role of "The Leg"? Hysterical!
Power Moves? Insane!
Free Pizza shenanigans? Loved It!

even simple things like Raven's love for "ponies" all come together to make this a terrific waste of time in the most enjoyable way.

And season 2 only makes it better....

While I enjoy/enjoyed the show very much CN really killed me making it appointment viewing every week. Can't even remember the last time I sat down to watch DC Nation. Losing Beware the Batman and not having a continuing storyline to comeback to each week for a lead-in is a big part of what did it. The other was tuning in for a "new" episode of TTG and only getting half of an episode that hadn't aired before and the false promise of "brand new" DC Nation shorts each week.

I will say that I think my favorite episodes have been ones with guest heroes. The one with the Beast Boy replacement try-outs, Speedy's date with Starfire and even the girls' night on the town with Jinx. I was sort-of pondering this at work a couple of days ago and thought it would be great to see a visit from the Super Best Friends Forever with the same voice actors and personalities in play. I could see BB trying to put the moves on Wonder Girl, Supergirl trying to one-up Starfire and Batgirl mercilessly teasing Robin about being all grim and serious and not getting to wear a bat-suit.

Titans West was touched upon in the old show, right?... That could make for some fun, too.

Teen Titans Go! "The Streak: Pt 1"
Spoiler: show
It IS very weird that Teen Titans go never gets a hiatus and only goes for like a month of reruns to build up episodes a new weekday run. I like the idea that no breaks makes the Titans tired.

This being considered the season premiere means season three was actually 60 episodes long instead of the standard 52. That's what the ep got wrong.

I love the idea of Robin beating up Darkseid for littering. I especially love that the thing he littered was a lozenge wrapper. SO good. Weird Al is officially Darkseid's new (and best) voice.

Where did Wally get the money for the recliner and the party wagon / hot tub? Is Wally rich in this continuity?

I love that even he doesn't want Beast Boy

The sour grapes thing was so disgusting as is much of this show.

Pretty great. ****.

Teen Titans Go! "The Streak: Pt. 2"
Spoiler: show
I love that Robin defeated Kid Flash the same way he did in his first episode. What is great about it is that in the earlier episode, you were rooting AGAINST Robin, but Wally's behavior here is so mean and deplorable that you kind of cheer when Robin Nancy Kerrigans him.

Per usual, Santa means a hot musical number. I laughed at the idea that Santa sent two lesser (and unknown reindeers) to the dogfood factory. How many other shows would use that joke? Especially a kids' one? How great is that?

I love that the Tooth Fairy calls teeth Smile Bones. It is amazing that this show has the best continuity of any DC cartoon outside of Justice League Unlimited. As bad as it is, it almost seems designed for Arrested Development level obsessives. I don't actually think it's a good enough show to obsess over. But if I DID think that, it would give me a lot to work with.

Great two-parter. *****.

Teen Titans Go! "Inner Beauty Of A Cactus"
Spoiler: show
The Tamaranian kissing thing shows why superhero comics are the single greatest drag on popular culture in history, and the awesomest thing ever at the exact same time. And both viewpoints are equally valid. It's sickening and antifeminist. And hilarious and sexy too. And it's not just one or the other. It's both.

I find it very conspicuous that Starfire did not kiss Raven. The show has done same-sex kisses before, and these kiss were particularly innocent, but I DID notice that Raven didn't get a turn.

You kiss Commissioner Gordon, you turn into Butthead. The writer of this episode has been watching Gotham.

Part of me hates this episode and concept. Part of me loves it. My grade will split the difference. ***.

Teen Titans Go! "Movie Night"
Spoiler: show
Mostly lame but there were two funny jokes.

1. When Robin talks about defeating Control Freak, it really involves him stealing his new TV off the street.

2. When Beast Boy says "I wanna go home to my Mama!", he sees Raven, and says "Oh, hey, Mama!"

But those were the only funny jokes. **1/2.

Teen Titans Go! "BBRAE: PT 1"
Spoiler: show
Not much to say about PT 1, except to say I am amused the Mama Bear is carrying a purse. ***.

Teen Titans Go! "BBRAE: PT 2"
Spoiler: show
Was that Kitten chasing Speedy?

I have to say I like Beast Boy's second song much better than the first anyways. ***.

Teen Titans Go! "Permanent Record"
Spoiler: show
Does anybody even still know who Mr. Kotter is? Do people who lived in the 70's and 80's even remember who Mr. Kotter is? Because I don't. What was I talking about?

Beast Boy's explanation about the blue sky thing explained it better than I've ever been able to grasp it as a kid. The reflecting water thing always bothered me because water is actually clear, not blue. So an equally good case could be made that the oceans are blue because they are reflecting the sky. Gasses capturing parts of the rainbow makes much more sense, even if Beast Boy describes it in a cartoon manner.

Love the idea of Starfire teaching to proper grammatical use of the word "the". That is just so the appropriate.

Love Cyborg teaching chemistry in an afro and sideburns.

Raven turning into the sub to blow off the rest of the day was genius. Bet the others wish they thought of that.

Pretty funny. This show isn't always. ****.

Teen Titans Go! "Titan Saving Day"
Spoiler: show
I think the Titans are running out of holidays to celebrate. Daylight Saving Time is even worse than "It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown."

This was dumb, even for this show. *.
