Batman and Superman Set to Appear in LEGO Movie

by SuperHeroHype

June 26, 2012

It looks like Batman and Superman will finally be sharing the big screen together. The two heroes are slated to appear in the upcoming Warner Bros. film LEGO: The Piece of Resistance, according to Variety.

Though not officially signed on, the filmmakers are circling Channing Tatum for Superman and Will Arnett for Batman. No word on how big of a role the characters will have in the film, but with two high profile actors taking on the roles we're guessing they'll be in it a lot. Chris Pratt ("Parks and Recreation") is set to voice the lead character in the film.

The project has been in development at Warner Bros. for over three years when the studio began working with the LEGO Company on developing a family comedy written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, and then brought on Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) to write and direct in 2010. They recently brought "Robot Chicken" stop-motion director Chris McKay on as a co-director for LEGO under Lord and Miller.

LEGO: The Piece of Resistance is schedule to hit theaters on February 28, 2014.

This is the first movie that my son has said, " WE HAVE TO SEE THIS ON OPENING NIGHT!"

He has marked every calendar in the house, put a reminder on my phone, and sent an email to his grandmother so we can't possibly forget.

I threw him a curveball last night when I reminded him that we have Ski Club on Fridays and if he wanted to go to the movie we would miss skiing. The look on his face was akin to someone finding out they have end stage terminal diseases. It was awesome (that sounds so mean, but if you are a parent you'll probably get the humor), and I think it means we are going to the first showing on Saturday morning unless I can find a theater that will have a 10pm opening night show.

My son wants to see this movie on opening night so badly he went into the Principal's office at school yesterday and asked if it was possible to move ski club to Thursday night for one week so he could do both.

I can not believe the level of angst this is causing him...

I admire his creative tenacity, if only he would apply this much effort to his work.

Yeah, mine keeps asking if we can go to the theater and watch the movie. He's only 4 and a half and doesn't get the whole advertising, not out in theaters situation.

Yup, Will Arnett as Batman sings his self-written Theme song.

To be honest I thought the song sucked-- until the last 5 seconds-- that made up for most of it..
