Steven Spielberg to produce Jurassic Park 4

Source: stv

January 16, 2012

Steven Spielberg will not direct 'Jurassic Park 4' but will work on the project as a producer. The 'War Horse' director - who helmed the first two stories in the dinosaur movie series - will be returning for the mooted fourth installment, but only in the capacity of producer.

He said: "I don't want to talk about 'Jurassic Park 4' yet - it's too early - but I can tell you that I'm not directing it. I'm producing it though."

Jurassic Park 4 Has Found New Writers!

Source: ComingSoon

June 20, 2012

Deadline's Mike Fleming is supposed to be on vacation, but he wasn't going to leave without dropping one last big tidbit for us, and it's that Universal Pictures have hired Rise of the Planet of the Apes screenwriters Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver to write Jurassic Park 4, the long-awaited follow-up to Jurassic Park 3, the third installment of Steven Spielberg's blockbuster dinosaur franchise which was released way back in the summer of 2001.

Last December, Spielberg himself told ComingSoon.net that it was on the schedule and this time, it looks like it might really be happening.

The previous three movies--the first two movies directed by Spielberg--have grossed $1.9 billion worldwide

It's Official: Jurassic Park IV is Coming in 2014!

by SuperHeroHype

January 11, 2013

Just days after word arrived that Steven Spielberg's tentative next film, Robopocalypse has been delayed indefinitely comes word that should more than balance out the disappointment felt by fans: Jurassic Park IV is officially on the way with a release date of June 13, 2014.

Details on the project are currently few, but Jurassic Park IV will be produced by Spielberg with a director yet-to-be-named. It is also being planned for a 3D release.

"It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going," fellow producer Kathleen Kennedy told ComingSoon.net last fall. "As filmmakers, we often sit there going, 'Okay. We have to answer the question, 'Why do another one?'' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise."

Currently unconfirmed, it is believed that the most recent draft of the sequel was scripted by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

The original 1993 Jurassic Park will see a 3D re-release on April 5 of this year, also hitting IMAX 3D theaters.

Director Colin Trevorrow Teases the First Behind the Scenes Shot From Jurassic Park 4

Source: ComingSoon

May 2, 2013

There's a special treat for Jurassic Park fans today on Colin Trevorrow's Twitter feed. He's revealed the first behind-the-scenes glimpse at the highly-anticipated Jurassic Park 4, currently undergoing location scouting. Check out his shot of what will become Isla Nublar below!

Isla Nublar was the fictional location of the original Jurassic Park, as opposed to Isla Sorna, featured in The Lost World and Jurassic Park III. It appears to be a good bet that the action of the franchise sequel will feature a return to the original park.

The Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment production will be produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley with Steven Spielberg as Executive Producer. The script was written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

Jurassic Park 4 is scheduled for release on June 13, 2014.

Universal Pictures Pushes Back Jurassic Park 4

by SuperHeroHype

May 08, 2013

Universal Pictures has today confirmed the rumors that Jurassic Park 4 has been pushed back. The Colin Trevorrow-directed film was originally scheduled for a June 13, 2014 release date. Here is the statement from the studio:

"In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history."

We'll let you know as soon as we hear more about when the film might hit theaters now.

Jurassic Park 4 Targeted for 2015, to be Shot in 3D

by SuperHeroHype

June 18, 2013

ComingSoon.net is attending Licensing Expo 2013 in Las Vegas today and spotted this banner for Jurassic Park 4 which confirms that the studio is now targeting a release in 2015 after recently announcing that the project was going to be pushed back from its previous June 13, 2014 release date.

In addition, the Licensing Expo book states that the film will be shot in 3D. We've asked the studio for confirmation on this and are awaiting word, but that would certainly be more welcome than a conversion.

Jurassic Park 4 will be directed by Colin Trevorrow from a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
