Seconded. I don't care one way or the other if the new Nolan Batman film does well. The previews just make it seem so boring. I guess the Dark Knight spoiled us all.

Funny thing is Marvel has been "top dog" at the Movies for the last 10+ years, BB and TDK are the only movies that changed that, until now, lol

June 07, 2012

One of the more popular parts of this summer's The Avengers was Mark Ruffalo's performance as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and with just cause.

If you loved his performance as much as we did, then you'll probably be excited to see this quick behind-the-scenes expose on how they created the Hulk form the guys at Media Freaks Blog.

From IGN:

Is The Avengers: Director's Cut Coming to Theaters?

Hulk want Director's Cut!

by RL Shaffer

June 12, 2012

Let's be honest, we all know Joss Whedon had to make a few cuts to The Avengers before release. He was pretty vocal about it, suggesting that anywhere between 30-45 minutes got axed from the film, including some pretty great character moments, like Cap reuniting with Peggy Carter.

But with The Avengers soaring toward that $600 million mark in the US, could Disney consider a late summer finale, with a three-hour Director's Cut of the film, to push them over the top? After all, there are some pretty big box office records ready to be broken.

Quite a few outlets, including Aint It Cool, SuperHeroAuthority and ComicBook.com, have suggested the possibility of a Director's Cut arriving sometime in August, right at the end of the summer season. Considering the box office mammoth this film has been thus far, and all that we know about what got cut, it's certainly within reason that Disney might consider such a move.

With the summer coming to a close, and the heat of The Dark Knight Rises simmering down, it would be a great push for not only the upcoming Blu-ray (slated for September), but also to help Disney recover from some of the John Carter losses from earlier in 2012. But let's not get too excited just yet.

IGN spoke with a Disney rep about this rumor, and they suggested it was merely that -- a rumor. But that doesn't mean the powers that be are not considering the option. The most logical choice would be to return the film to IMAX screens, however, with Total Recall, The Bourne Legacy and Expendables II soaking up screen time in August, an IMAX run might be out of the question. That said, 3D screens might be more accessible.

Now, it's entirely possible the upcoming Blu-ray, whose features haven't been made official, or fully solidified, by Disney just yet, will include a Director's Cut. That could spell a limited engagment, akin to the July one night screening of Star Trek: The Next Generation, to help promote this release.

Regardless, the word here is "unconfirmed," and until someone turns rumor into fact, all we can do is hope and pray Disney makes the call. Naturally, it'd be awesome to see a Director's Cut on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D, but it would be even better to see it in IMAX 3D.

Marvel's The Avengers Passing $600 Million Domestically Today

by SuperHeroHype

June 26, 2012

Marvel's The Avengers is expected to cross the $600 million domestic box office threshold today, becoming one of only three films in history ever to reach this milestone. The superhero film's global total is now an estimated $1.438 billion, and it stands as the #3 film of all time globally and domestically.

Marvel's The Avengers opened in North America on May 4 with a staggering $207.4 million – the biggest domestic debut of all time – and has been shattering domestic box office records ever since including the industry's all-time second weekend record with $103 million; fastest film to reach $200 million (3 days), $300 million (9 days), $400 million (14 days), and $500 million (23 days); and highest Saturday ($69.5 million) and Sunday ($57 million) totals. It is the #4 film of all time internationally with $838.9 million.

Among only 12 films that have grossed $1 billion at the global box office, Marvel's The Avengers is one of five billion-dollar Disney releases, which also include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Alice in Wonderland, Disney•Pixar's Toy Story 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

HELL, YEAH!!!! :D

It'll probably eek up to $630 or so.

Unless they do that director's cut mentioned earlier. If they do that, they could make a run for the number two spot.

I hope he was smart enough to get a little on the back end. If not, he's probably smacking himself upside his own head.
