jingle kringle, with the paint on these. I looked through 6 different Inferno armors at Walmart last night, and didn't find one I could be satisfied with. And I'm no perfectionist; every one of them had glaring problems in immediately noticeable areas.

These bad paint jobs remind me of the 90's Iron Man cartoon line and how the armored figures had those attachments where the chrome paint kept flaking off. Good thing they will be around throughout the year, otherwise I'll never find any relatively flawless ones.

Is it just me, or do the movie figures seem to have worse paint jobs than the comic figures? I wonder if different factories did them? Put me down for Ghost as well (either version would be fine). Might as well add Blizzard, Melter, Unicorn, Blacklash, Force, Sunterion, the Raiders (all three), and the M.A.U.L.E.R. to the list. Oh, and an old school Titanium Man. And the Freak! Okay, maybe not the Freak.

I'm down for any and all villains, especially those from the two Bob Layton runs and some from Denny O'Neil's.
Went by TRUs today for the two-fer. I only needed the comic series figures and there were exactly two left - of the same character (Classic Red & Gold) but with the usual lousy paint jobs. Picked up two Star Wars figures instead so the trip wouldn't be total waste.
Then I discovered a new Target not far from the TRUs where Montgomery Wards used to be when I was a kid. Nice, wide store with few people in sight. The toy aisles here proved far more generous. There was one Crimson Dynamo but no War Machine. Two Stealth Operations and a bunch of the Classic Red & Gold. Took me forever to sort through one that was at least acceptable, but I returned home with it and one of the two Stealths plus a third Star Wars guy from the Clone Wars series.
Iron Man 2 has a lot of potential for hottest line of the year, but the QC equals that of the Secret Wars packs. Has anybody tried doing a head swap on these yet? I'm thinking that's the only sure way of getting around the paint issues.

Oh, and an old school Titanium Man. While I can't say I need ALL of those, a comic Whiplash/Blacklash seems like an obvious choice for this movie, doesn't it?

The classic green ponytail version, or the one in the gimp suit from later years? If it's the former, I'll also hold out hope for Blizzard, Dreadknight, and Whirlwind to complete the henchmen from the 90s cartoon. (Yes, I'm ignoring the annoying chick with hypnotism powers)

The last thing I need are gimp-related associations with my little plastic men. Green ponytail, please. Whirlwind and Living Laser would be cool to complete my Captain America and the Avengers Level One villain roster. "You cannot escape!" "You will be the one escaping!" "HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"

"HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!" That's from the 90's video game where some dialogue was "lost" in translation, right? I read a story about it once but I've never actually played the game itself. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I've put up a simple visual checklist for the Iron Man 2 3.75" line at IAT: http://www.itsalltrue.net/?page_id=4334It's a work in progress. I haven't been following all the news, so I'm playing catch up as I go!

Thanks, Noisy! That checklist is sure going to come in handy. I had Guardsman, Titanium Man, and the Neo-Classic (Oversized) IM on the back of my mind, but forgot about Silver Centurion or Iron Monger. I don't think I ever caught any Toy Fair pics yet. I finally opened Crimson Dynamo today and discovered that he's got a wobbly head. It took me forever to pop it off so I could check out what was wrong. I wrapped a piece of the twisty ties which come with the MU figures around the ball and placed his head back on. It moves better now and doesn't fall on his chest like the others do, almost like it was supposed to have a ball jointed noggin in the first place. Does anyone else have this problem with their Dynamos?

You called figure No. 30 Neo-Classic and it's not the first time I've heard it referred to that way. I went off the http://www.ironmanarmory.com/ when doing my research on the comics armors. I found this one, http://www.ironmanarmory.com/Oversize_Red_and_Gold.html , and noted the guantlets, boots, and general look and decided it must be the Mark XIV. The Armory shows Neo-Classics as this one: http://www.ironmanarmory.com/NeoClassic_Armor.htmlDoes the Armory website list them incorrectly? Or am I missing an important detail? I just want to make sure my t's are dotted and i's are crossed, so thanks for the help!

I would really like to see some supporting heroes in the Iron Man 2 comic series, though that's more likely in the Marvel Universe line. Black Widow, Jack of Hearts, and some members of the West Coast Avengers all come to mind.

I just want to make sure my t's are dotted and i's are crossed, so thanks for the help! Noisy, I checked the Armory last night for that very same reason and noticed the reference switch. I've always known the armor introduced in Iron Man #231 as the "Neo-Classic" or "Renaissance" model due to its return to the familiar red and gold colors after the Silver Centurion period ended. Most of the time since then it's been called "Neo-Classic" as in this piece done for the movie by IGN: http://stars.ign.com/articles/870/870740p5.htmlIn addition, here's an article from Marvel's own web site which heralds issue #231 as the start of the Neo-Classic era: http://marvel.com/news/comicstories.3230.iron_man_eras~colon~_the_80~apos~sSeeing how Tim's Armory is the premier website for Iron Man information, I'd hesitate to debate him because he's spent a lot of time labeling the Classic Red & Blue itself into various different stages. Yet, I've honestly never heard of the 80's Bob Layton design being called the "Oversized" model up to now. The fans have called it the "Coffeepot Armor" in jest, due to the bulkier design of its boot jets. Otherwise, it's always been known as the Neo-Classic or Renaissance armor since it first debuted back in 1988. Maybe we ought to go straight to the source? http://www.boblayton.com/Hope this helps clear things a bit!
