I think thor is pegwarming because there is so little difference in each of the thor's. I personally am not a huge fan of the wave 1 Loki and am holding out for the horned helmet one. BUT one big problem I am worried about is the number of pegs I have seen set aside for thor. If the stores fill these and they hang like these aready are hanging around, we will have major issues getting figs like destroyer ect. especially with what is being carried forward and repainted
Iron Man has a similar problem but at least some of them move, granted the IM's themselves are not but the other characters seem to move enough to leave some space, but of course that will be filled with more Iron Man.

Frequency wrote: The Thor line is already a peg warmer in this area. I can't belive how many Iron Man 2 figures are left on the pegs, in some cases 15+ of one figure, while others like Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man are gone. Around here, Iron Man 2 is largely cleared out, except at the local TRU which doesn't seem to be able to move them, they have full pegs and 2 sidecaps full. Still no final wave though, even though their pegs are empty. Thor isn't moving at all. Personally, I don't care, I don't like Thor and I'm not going to be buying any, any more than I'll be buying Captain America, but it's just sitting there rotting on the pegs already, that's not a good sign.

Thor seems to be moving pretty well out here, but unlike Iron Man (who has variety built into the character via different armors), Thor himself doesn't really support a lot of different iterations. Now, if they want including comic versions: 1) Movie Thor 2) Classic Thor 3) Modern Thor 4) Future Thor (Thor 3000? I know he's appeared multiple times) 5) Thunderstrike 6) Beta Ray Bill 7) Armored Bearded Thor from the 90's (when he was dying) Thorgirl Cal, do you have any others? What a missed opportunity.

Based on what we're seeing with the Thor selection, it looks like retailers have pulled way back on their orders compared to Iron Man 2. Something people seem to forget is that demand for Iron Man 2 toys being so grossly overestimated is largely a result of demand for Iron Man toys being so drastically underestimated. Retailers had a tough time keeping them on shelves, and Target had to bring the line back after removing it from their planograms prematurely. That was the year after they seriously underestimated demand for the Transformers line, and it was the same year they had so much trouble keeping Star Wars: The Clone Wars in stock for the holiday season. Corporate toy buyers are constantly playing a guessing game with what's going to be a hit in their stores and what won't. As for Thor, his movie hasn't been released yet. Most people haven't even been introduced to him, so it's a bit early to judge the toy line.

Underestimating Star Wars as a toy franchise back in the 70's set the standard for this kind of behavior. It's a bit like predicting next week's weather.

Agreed, but there certainly seems to be a pullback from IM2. I seem to recall a lot more peg space for Tony this time last year.
I think the real test will be how much space Cap gets. I believe Steve has a much higher profile than the God of Thunder.

The problem is, IM2 is still getting a ton of peg space, it's just all empty in most places! They haven't reallocated those pegs for other figures, they're sitting empty, or nearly so. It seems foolish for these retailers, if they are actually pulling back from IM2, not to use those pegs to stock other toys that they are more confident in. To be honest, I don't know that Cap is going to do any better than Thor. I guess we'll see, but around here, Thor isn't moving at all.

I think this will be interresting. I don't think the scalpers have found the Thor figures yet, and they will by the time the movie hits. Sales could pick up when the movie hits, depending on how well it does. If sales don't pick up, the scalpers will be stuck with a lot of crap that won't move and have to dump it.
Personally I hope they bomb. I have no plans to get them, but could change my mind if they go to clearance. (Disclaimer:This is my personal feeling as an individual, not what I think all collectors should feel.)

To be honest Hasbro shot themselves in the foot again, they didn't listen to people who buy these, they should have done a comic line for Thor, then I think more people would be buying these figures.
I think Captain America will be a success because they are using the comic line as well.

I think Captain America will be a success because they are using the comic line as well. I think the same and am now questioning Hasbros logic. They are doing figures for the new X-men movie which are comic figures so why didn't they do this with Thor. Hasbro, you just lost a ton of sells. I will say this though if the Cap movie comic figures don't fit in with the MU figures ie... Captain Marvel/Cyclops/Guardian scale base then I'm done with all this bs. I will go back to collecting porn movies

I think Captain America will be a success because they are using the comic line as well. Yeah I would have been interested in a Thor comic series line.

I don't think comic Thor is doing that bad in MU, considering how diverse MU is. You have Thor, Loki, Enchantress, Absorbing Man, Wrecking Crew, and that just off the top of my head. They can keep the comic stuff in the MU line as long as they actually do it, and releasing comic figures in MU based on the movie that is out would be a smart move.
Maybe too smart for mere toy company execs to figure out?

If that was the case they would have started showing up at retail the first two times BBTS shipped them in December and January. Still good to hear, not got my notice yet but hopefully soon.
