I bit more on these than I though I would and ended up with CC, Beachead, Firefly, and the Alley Viper. The Alley Viper is pretty much a repaint of the Defense of Cobra Island one, isn't it? Except maybe the helmet?

So my Target is half-way through their 4th case of POC now, has sold all of their $15 vehicles and two of the three Mechs. I'd say this line is a hit, at least initially. I'm pretty happy to be excited about GI Joe again.

They're flying off the shelves here as well. I'm actually really, really surprised that that's the case. Some posters here said that they were a bit underwhelmed by the SDCC reveals (I'm paraphrasing), and wouldn't be spending much on Joes this year. I guess that either proves that this was just a small sampling of opinions, or just that the opinions here at AFI are not the consensus.
Personally, I'm blown away by what I've seen thus far (I said as much earlier in the SDCC Joe thread), and I'll be picking up about 80-90% of what's been revealed for this year and going into next. It's a great time to be G.I. Joe collector!!
Now out of this first batch I still have to find:
Cobra Commander Firefly Alley Viper HISS Tank Spirit Iron-Knife Wolfhound
Happy hunting!

It definitely wasn't the consensus, as the reaction on G.I. JOE sites had been overwhelmingly positive. Of course, The Rise of Cobra toys flew off shelves when they first arrived, too, and they were shipped in much larger quantities. The real story of success or failure for Pursuit of Cobra will be written after the initial new toys! hype fades away.

Mostly because I don't like figures that are movie likenesses. They usually come out looking wretched in my opinion.

well out of the first 8 I only grabbed alley viper and firefly.. and the Hiss and Snow Cat-- I am still picking and choosing and really only grabbing the old designs and decent new vipers.. My first real decision will be if I pick up a mech to get the figure with it.

They usually come out looking wretched in my opinion. They have their uses, even for ARAH-era collections. Iron Grenadiers Unmasked Night Stalkers Cobra Science Officer Dreadnok: BloodbathNo, Marlon Wayans will never be Rip Cord in my ARAH-era display, but it is nice to get new heads for swaps. The best thing about the movie line for me, however, was the vehicles. Many of them were topnotch. stewbacca wrote: well out of the first 8 I only grabbed alley viper and firefly.. and the Hiss and Snow Cat-- I am still picking and choosing and really only grabbing the old designs and decent new vipers. I've been picking and choosing since the 25th Anniversary logo was dropped, but I ordered several figures from this first wave: Firefly, Cobra Commander, Alley Viper x3, Snake-Eyes x2, Beach Head, and the Doom Cycle (just to get the Storm Rider figure).

The only one I want currently that I can't find is Spirit. Is he short-packed? An exclusive? A pilot/driver?
I agree with the "NEW TOYS!" momentum. We had a bit of a drought the last 2-3 months.

I've got good news, bad news and then more good news. Good news: I found Cobra Commander and Firefly at Walmart . Bad news: I'm broke so I couldn't buy either . Good news: I hid them behind the DCUC Gotham 5-pack. Those things have been there for upwards of 6 months and they're covered in about an inch of dust. They should be pretty safe there .

There's a notch that enables it to store the grappling gun. A slight improvement but it makes a big difference to me at least. Thus far, I've bought every figure except for Snow Job and Spirit, Quick-kick. And I'd buy the latter two if I could find them at my local TRU.

These appear to be selling very well in this area. The last two Targets I've been to were out of singles and only had a few vehicles.

I've seen them in two places. No Firefly, Cobra Commander, or Alley Viper figures were left when I got there. One store had one Duke left, and the other had no Dukes. If you had told me that Duke would sell through before Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow, I'd have thought you were nuts.
Still no exclusives at my local Toys "Я" Us. Those are the only ones I need to find at retail.
