Picked up a set of the market six (market three?) figures at a Dollar General in the middle of nowhere yesterday. The Ninja Force Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow are worth having for the hilarity factor. The Cobra Commander, Cobra Trooper, and Duke are okay. The Shipwreck is awesome, though. He has a nice DDP vibe.

I also grabbed Retaliation Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Cobra Commander last night. Haven't opened the ninjas yet, but CC is very cool despite the lack of ankle articulation.
I've completely given up on finding these, as there are no Dollar Generals within what I consider reasonable proximity. I stopped by a couple last weekend when I was in the area with no luck. And to boot, there's been a huge uproar about a local scalper clearing out all of the stores in the northern metro Atlanta area, and throwing them up on eBay for quadruple the price. I do want them all (multiples of some), but no where near badly enough to deal with all this foolishness.

They have a store near my office, a store near Jennifer's office, and a store right next to Heroes Aren't Hard to Find. I'd been to all three twice with no luck. I had to go to Raleigh Thursday night, so I decided to hit stores in the sticks on my way back Saturday. I came home with a set for myself and a set for a buddy, but it took checking over a dozen stores out in Squeallikeapigville.
I will be very surprised if these don't show up at other chains like Family Dollar and Big Lots in the next few months.

I hope these figures show up at Big Lots. I don't think there are any Dollar General stores here in California. I just want Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.
ON a side note I bought a loose Lifeline on Ebay for around 17.00. He's cool. He'll look good displayed with Doc.

I'm feeling lazy to look back but how much are these Dollar General figs again? I forgot about the Shipwreck. The Devil's Due version was my favorite look for Shipwreck. I think I'd like one of those as well.

Well at least we know what the Hasbro push after Christmas will be..
On dollar general storefront news-- I hit 3 the first day closer to my house and they had the joe figures in odd places.
I hit 11 different ones in the next 2 days (some in the middle of nowhere)- and no sign of the figures-- and no pegs tagged for them either-- my guess is that the distribution center that hits the Metro Louisville area either hasnt gotten them- or the region hasnt put them in their planogram yet (which means they will do it this weekend for their memorial day sale)

what a piece of junk. Went to a few stores and didnt find anything, I want to get atleast a cobra commander before the figures are all snatched up by scalpers. I would like to get a dollar general snake eyes as well. sigh
So I was out today on my way back from Wizard World and I stopped in a Dollar General and found some GI Joes much like the Dollar General Marvel Universe! They look like they are missing items and only come alone with no accessories.
Anyone else seen these?
If there's another thread on this just merge it please.
These are exclusive to DOLLAR GENERAL stores, and they've really surprised G.I. Joe collectors, since they're apparently EXCLUSIVES to this chain, and they're quite distinctive figures!
They're all modern-style G.I. Joes, but mostly based on various incarnations from previous editions of G.I. Joe characters. They include the following:
SNAKE-EYES - 1991 coloration STORM SHADOW - Ninja Force coloration COBRA COMMANDER - Black uniform 1993 coloration SHIPWRECK - 2002-era sweater and knit hat version COBRA TROOPER - All-black uniform, silver emblem DUKE - All green uniform
Where they came from, or why Dollar General would get such interesting exclusives, remains something of a mystery, which certainly hasn't stopped collectors from trying to round them up!
And honestly, I could use some help acquiring them for my own collection. I completely struck out at all four of the Dollar Generals in this town.
