While I'm not in favor of gettting rid of exclusives (we get a lot of characters we probably wouldn't get that way, like Radioactive Man and Tiger Shark), I am with you on the pre-ordering idea.
As many others have said, waiting in line for the exclusives is a massive time suck. Time that could be spent in Hall H or at panels or simply wandering around and ODing on the total geekness of a con. I would love to be able to sign in at Matty or HTS before traveling to a con and clicking what I want. Pay for it ahead of time and then go pick up the stuff at my convenience on Sunday an hour before everything closes so I don't have to lug it around all day!

Unfortunately, SDCC and other con exclusives exist solely for the 'HEY! Take a gander at THIS!' It's all a marketing ploy, cleverly disguised as a 'gift' for fans who attend the cons. Honestly, I am shocked that Hasbro and Mattel even offer these online after the show. It does change the meaning of the word 'exclusive'. However, I am glad that they offer SDCC exclusives there.
The way it should be is this:
1- Con exclusive packaging, when compared to a possible retail release of the same item when possible, a la the carded MU Galactus.
2- Allow pre-ordering for pick-up at the show. Mattel does, and Hasbro does not.
3- If Hasbro wishes to sell SDCC items online, then Hasbro should double or triple the amounts of the online SDCC product. Why? Well, those who really want a Masters of Evil(for example) have a much better chance of getting one. And those who want to buy something to profit from it can still get it. Afterwards, I could give a lick about it's aftermarket value, as the edition run has been increased x3, let's say. The fact of the matter is, Hasbro would be selling three times the amount of product, fans would have more of that product in fans' hands, and scalpers...well who cares at that point?

I only need the white one. She was. Everything was up. Shockwave went first, then Jinx.

Jinx doesn't even show up on the site anymore.

I was able to get abso-Smurfly nothing.
The Ebay prices are crazy. I'm not even remotely thinking about getting any of these unless something amazing happens.
Oh, well. Just another part of collecting that sucks. I can always go to the stores and find tons of stuff that's been sitting there forever that I don't want, though.

I caught the tail end of the last (final?) sale and thought I had an X-Force set, but nope! Sold out at checkout (and probably before). At least I don't feel like I am missing out on anything essential for my collection, like MU collectors may be feeling. My X-Force Warpath looks a little silly on the shelf by himself, but he can always be put into a drawer

A guy I work with managed to snag a Helicarrier from Hasbro over the weekend. I kept teasing him that UPS would fold the box in half before delivery...
