Dan Kunka to Pen Screenplay for Live-Action Space Invaders

By ComingSoon

February 13, 2015

The feature film based on classic arcade game Space Invaders is dropping down and reversing direction as it aims to blast its way to theaters thanks to the imagination of writer Dan Kunka (12 Rounds), who Deadline reports will pen the script for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Kunka is a hot Blacklist writer who gained traction with his 52-page, dialogue-free spec script Yellowstone Falls, in which wolves battle zombies. That script was sold to QED in a bidding war, while another action script titled Bermuda Triangle sold to Warner Bros. and producer Charles Roven.

Space Invaders was designed by Tomohiro Nishikado and released in 1978. The game was later licensed for production in the United States by Midway. Warners began the process of acquiring the rights back in 2010, while the iconic spaceships from the game will feature as opponents in this summer’s classic 8-bit video game-themed adventure Pixels.

Akiva Goldsman, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell have all signed on as producers of Space Invaders, with Jesse Ehrman overseeing for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Grodd is Coming to The CW’s The Flash!

By ComingSoon

February 13, 2015

Both characters have been building up for some time on the hit new DC Comics series “The Flash” and, today, The CW has debuted two new videos that tease what’s to come as the first season continues. In the top player, a behind the scenes featurette teases the future of Firestorm and what’s to come in this week’s episode. Then, in the bottom player, a new teaser warns that “Grodd is Coming!” There’s no specific episode or date announced quite yet for when we might see a “full” Grodd appearance, but when it comes to assembling the Flash’s rogues gallery on the small screen, it’s pretty clear that The CW isn’t monkeying around!

Titled “Fallout,” this week’s episode (episode 1×14) is officially described as follows:

After the nuclear explosion separates Ronnie (guest star Robbie Amell) and Dr. Stein (guest star Victor Garber), Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team believe both men are safe. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) is thrilled to have her fiancé back and prepares to resume their life together while Dr. Stein returns to his wife. However, when General Eiling (guest star Clancy Brown) targets Firestorm, Ronnie and Dr. Stein must decide if they are safer together or apart. Meanwhile, Mason Bridge (guest star Roger Hayworth) tells Iris (Candice Patton) that there is something secretive going on at S.T.A.R. Labs and Dr. Stein gives Barry some important information about time travel.

Directed by Steve Surjik and written by Keto Shimizu & Ben Sokolowski, “Fallout” is set to air February 17. “The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 P.M. EST.
