Smack Down

Shane comes to the ring. The Best in the World trophy is there. He has the announcer announce him as the Best in the World a few times, to get it right. Speaks about why he beat down The Miz (he's recovering at home), and that they're having a match at Wrestle Mania.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Decision for the 8-man tag match between Aleister Black/Ricochet & Hardy Boyz vs. The Bar & Nakamura/Rusev, as The New Day come down, clear the ring & beat down the heels.

BTW, Lana has an injury, wearing a boot on her foot.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Randy Orton & AJ Styles go at it verbally in the ring. Some good stuff here, comparing careers; Randy using a knock-off Diamond Cutter, AJ copying the Too Sweet gesture, etc.

AJ challenges him to a match at Wrestle Mania.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Asuka taps out Sonya Deville with the Asuka Lock. Prior to receiving an Asuka Kick, she got tripped up on the ring apron, as Mandy Rose pulled it down trying to get up from the ringside floor (she was slid into by Asuka prior). This was really dumb looking and WAY too obvious. A bigger chasm between the two occurs as they walk away in defeat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The IIconics do a promo on Banks & Bayley.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Becky comes to the ring (throws crutch away) & has a verbal showdown with Charlotte. Zzzzzzz

I'd rather see Becky not on TV. Charlotte should have matches beating opponents with kendo sticks & by other means to show what level she's willing to go.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rey Mysterio & R-Truth win in a match against Andrade & Samoa Joe, via Rey pinning Joe. Joe gets upset & attacks Truth & Andrade afterwards, with Rock Bottoms.

Anyone going to comment on Rey's ring gear? It looked like he was wearing a bikini bottom. That's even worse than the diaper he's usually sporting on his trunks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel Bryan & Rowan beat KO & Mustafa Ali with an Iron Claw Slam on Ali.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vince is out, saying he's providing teachable moments to Kofi. This brings The New Day out. Big E & Xavier are adamant that Kofi gets the shot he deserves, while Kofi wants to know what he has to do to get it.

Vince informs him that he'll have to go thru a Gauntlet Match next week against Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, The Bar & Rowan.

Okay, if you're going to do this, Randy has to get distracted by AJ Styles during his match so he doesn't look weak prior to a match at Wrestle Mania.

NXT - Last Week

Forgotten Sons beat Moustache Mountain with the Forgotten No More in their semifinal match in the Dusty Rhodes Classic.

Not a surprise here, as you want to promote a team in NXT proper.

Best part of the match was when the true Big Strong Boy, Tyler Bate, doing an airplane spin on both Sons.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matt Riddle gets interviewed, but is interrupted by Adam Cole.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Decision for the #1 Contender's Match between Io Shirai & Bianca Belair, as Shayna Basler interfered. Kirai Sane came down to help, but she was not match for the champ either, Baszler proving that no one's in her league & worth going one-on-one with her.

Later in the evening, she got her wish, as now the title match is a Fatal Four-Way between all the competitors mentioned above.

I think HHH made a mistake here, regarding the women's division. I think Rhea Ripley should've joined NXT instead of NXT UK after the Mae Young Tournament. Then you could've had Ripley vs. Baszler.

It seems Baszler was just doing that one dark tag match, for whatever reason. She's back in NXT UK.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aleister Black & Ricochet beat DIY with a Black Mass on Tommaso Ciampa.

Ciampa had to carry the match, as Johnny Gargano came down with a leg injury. He, with Candice LaRea's help, carried Gargano to the top of the ramp.

Ciampa, frustrated, turned on Johnny. But Gargano fooled everyone, faking the injury. He slammed Ciampa into the jumbotron, breaking DIY & making himself the #1 contender for the NXT title in the process.

This was one heck of a swerve, as Gargano really sold it.

NXT UK - Last Week

Wolfgang beats FMW with a Caber Toss, in a solid match between the two.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kassius Ohno doing a promo, saying he does British Strong Style better than anyone in NXT UK.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan win again, beating Saxon Huxley & Tyson T-Bone, as Jordan lands a senton onto Huxley.

You know, I've liked T-Bone from day one (I like Huxley too). I think T-Bone could be a good tag partner for Braun Strowman.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jinny interview on Toni Storm, Eddie Dennis promo & learning he'll be facing Ligero next

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Noam Dar is in the ring speaking, a bit too long IMO. Mark Andrews comes out to shut him up, after Dar disparages him a bit.

What if Dar joined Gallus?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xia Brookside talks some smack on Rhea Ripley, then we get a promo on "The Hunt' -- Wild Boar & Primate.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Making her NXT UK debut, Kay Lee Ray beats Candy Floss with her Widow's Peak. Eh. Don't see the hype.

Maybe tag her with Isla Dawn?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moustache Mountain promo

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walter & Pete Dunne beat The Coffey Bros. with a Power Bomb from Walter on Mark Coffey.

Couple of bad things here. First, Mark Coffey screwed up on a German suplex on Pete Dunne. Second, Walter goes awkwardly into the ropes, cutting himself.

Afterwards, Walter steps on the belt before giving it to Dunne. Frankly, Dunne was acting more heelish during the tag match. He wasn't being the best partner, anyway.

RAW - in Chicago

Lesnar with Heyman to the ring, with plenty of boos from the crowd. Liked Renee's comment 'about time he's shown up. Heyman talks about Rollins and Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre comes out, talks a bit (has a match with Rollins tonight). Rollins comes out with a chair & takes out McIntyre with it. Lesnar & Heyman leave the ring, as Rollins brings in the chair.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finn Balor & Braun Strowman win against Lio Rush & Bobby Lashley, with a Strowman powerslam on Lio, as Lashley leaves him to fend for himself.

This was a good match, highlighted by Braun hip tossing Lio. Made the Little Man fly.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See Ronda & her husband come to the arena, with a ref (and security) admonishing her actions the week before. First time I've seen a ref be vocal, kind of odd.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Moment of Bliss with Elias, who's the headlining musical act for Wrestle Mania.

The Conga Line comes out, and Elias gets attacked by No Way Jose.

Elias beats NWJ with the Driftaway.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prior to his match, Kurt Angle made his choice for his Wrestle Mania opponent = Baron Corbin. Like I said, this is the only thing that makes sense.

Kurt Angle beats Chad Gable with an Ankle Lock, as Angle moves along his Farewell Tour.

Cole makes a screw up during the match, Corey corrects him.

Corbin comes out at the end of the match, talks a bit. Back in the back he's with The Revival & Apollo Crews. Apollo challenges him to a match later.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sasha Banks & Bayley are interviewed, questioned if they're ducking the IIconics, as they haven't made a trek to Smack Down as of yet.

Beth Phoenix & Natalya challenge them for the titles.

No Decision for Nattie vs. Sasha. Nia Jax came out, distracting them as Tamina attacks from out of nowhere.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mojo in the Mirror segment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ricochet beats Jinder Mahal with a 630.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Warrior Award is going to be given to long-time WWE employee Sue Atchinson

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronda taps out Dana Brooke with an arm bar, but doesn't relinquish the hold right away. A ref puts his hands on her after the fact, resulting in a striking Rousey.

Rousey is by the barricade, kissing husband as security comes down, and one of them puts his hands on her. Her husband, Travis Banks, gets involved by striking the offending security guy. Travis has been down the Performance Center lately, plus he's MMA (Rousey & he also have a wrestling ring at their residence). He may want to ease up on the elbows though.

They then exit thru the crowd.

I expect him to be in her corner at Mania.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apollo Crews beats an over-confidant Baron Corbin with a Small Package. Okay, that sounds bad.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Batista shares his issues with HHH

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Braun gets interviewed, we learn he'll be in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Totally forgot about this thing. Maybe we'll finally see Lars Sullivan.

Braun gets a car from the SNL guy. He destroys it & flips it over. This is actually product placement, in a way, as they're selling a Mattel-issued "WWE Wrekkin' Slam Mobile Playset," which I'm sure Zack Ryder will be purchasing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drew McIntyre beats Seth Rollins with a Claymore, while being distracted by Lesnar.

Looks like McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns at Mania.

BTW, after RAW went off the air, Baron Corbin came to the ring & attacked Seth. McIntyre left. Ambrose's music hits & he comes to the ring & helps out Rollins. He gives Corbin a Dirty Deeds, and as he recovered from that, he got a Stomp from Rollins.

Looks like the SHIELD breakup was only rumor.

Smack Down

Miz to the ring & does a great promo on Shane & Vince.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rey Mysterio gets interviewed, his son is with him. The son is way bigger than Rey. Rey will be facing Samoa Joe at Mania for the U.S. title

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KO Show with Becky & Charlotte, leads to a brawl between the ladies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel Bryan (with Rowan) comes to the ring & badmouths Kofi, saying he's not worthy. New Day come out. Xavier & Big E are barred from ringside for Kofi's Gauntlet Match.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kofi beats Sheamus with a Trouble in Paradise. We see The New Day eating pancakes while watching the match.

Kofi beats Cesaro with an S.O.S. The Hardy Boyz & Mustafa Ali join The New Day in the back.

Kofi wins via DQ as Rowan hits him with a chair, then continues to beat on him as more of the locker room watches, including Heavy Machinery. He gets Iron Clawed thru the announce table too.

Kofi beats Samoa Joe with a rollup. Nikki Cross sighting, watching the match. Joe attacks afterwards, with a Kachina Clutch.

Kofi beats Randy Orton with a rollup as well, although you can see Randy's shoulder pops up.

Then Vince comes out, saying Kofi had one more opponent--Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan beats Kofi with a running knee.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first two matches were way too long. I had a lot of problems with how this all went down actually.

Here's how I would've done it. In this order:

The New Day are barred from the ring.

Kofi vs. Samoa Joe: Kofi wins with help from Rey Mysterio, with a distraction or what have you. Here, with Joe losing, he doesn't look weak going into Wrestle Mania.

Kofi vs. Randy Orton: Kofi gets help from AJ Styles. Same as above.

This gets Vince McMahon to come down to the ring. He warns that anyone else who comes down will be fired. The announcer makes the next opponent announcement, Sheamus.

Vince holds him off. He says The Bar is a tag team, they'll compete as a tag team, 2-on-1. Vince is feeling good about things now, proud of himself. He has the bell rung.

They get announced. Nothing. "Well, where are they?" Vince asks the announcer. We see The New Day attacking The Bar in the back. The ref counts them out, winner Kofi.

Kofi vs. Rowan: Same result.

Same thing with Vince announcing Kofi has to face Daniel Bryan--and he loses the same way.

Now why you may ask?

Well, The New Day cut a segment in the locker room (on the WWE web site). Xavier & Big E want to quit the WWE, Kofi non-committal.

So here's what I'd do with this

The New Day starts Wrestle Mania sitting in the ring. They talk about the situation, about leaving the WWE.

Kofi turns on Xavier & Big E, pummels them both with his chair. They both need to get stretchered out, while Kofi heads to the back, out of the arena.

On the following Smack Down Kofi explains himself. Saying that this is a brand new day for him, new look. He's going to get to the top on his own.

Xavier & Big E are on the shelf.

Kofi gets a title shot at Summer Slam against Daniel Bryan.

Xavier & Big E come down in the middle of the match. They take out Rowan. Kofi wins the title. The New Day are back together, but never broke up--as they planned this all along. The house didn't win this time (Vince)--see locker room segment, it's now Kofi's time.

NXT - This Week

HHH is out, announcing Ciampa's injury. He relinquished the title, as he could be out for awhile. There will be a Fatal Five-Way tonight, the winner to face Johnny Gargano at Take Over.

five are: Adam Cole, Ricochet, Aleister Black, Matt Riddle & Velveteen Dream.

They do a bunch of promos, see people in the back (including a Kona Reeves appearance).

No other matches this night.

This was only a 16-minute match, out of the 49 minutes for the program.

Adam Cole wins. Ricochet thought he won after hitting a shooting star press from the top rope onto Matt Riddle (on his lower body/legs actually), but gets hit from behind with a knee.

Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano @ Take Over.

A lot of good moments in the match, the most impressive were the 3 gut wrench suplexes by Matt Riddle in succession (on Ricochet IIRC). Like what Eddie Guerrero would do with his back suplexes (Three Amigos). Amazing strength.

This is why Riddle needs to be called up. Well, all of these guys do (with Ricochet & Black, full time).

NXT UK - This Week

Johnny Saint & Sid Scala are in the ring, saying Pete Dunne will be defending (gave his consent) at Take Over. He comes to the ring, tells them who he wants to face. Couldn't actually hear it, as his mic malfunctioned--but no one noticed. We learn it will be Walter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Toni Storm will be defending @ Take Over as well, against Jinny.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhea Ripley is looking for Xia Brookside.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eddie Dennis beats Ligero with a Neck Stop Driver.

If he ever gets called up, he needs to come in as a disgruntled bus driver. "Next Stop..."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Hunt -- Wild Boar & Primate beat Pretty Deadly (Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley) with a suplex throw. These NXT announcers need to get with the talent beforehand & learn what they're calling their finishers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kassius Ohno beats Ashton Smith with a ripcord ebow. Travis Banks comes out to stop Ohno from doing anymore damage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See Gallus talking to one another, needing to stay on top

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tyler Bate beats James Drake with a flying corkscrew splash. Seems like Zack Gibson is hurt.

RAW - in Boston

The Women's RAW title Match will be the Main Event for Wrestle Mania. No surprise there.

The three competitors in that match start off the show with a "Beat the Clock" Challenge, each going against an individual member from the Riott Squad.

They all talk prior, with Ronda talking negatively turning more heel each week. No mention of what happened last week, nothing from upper management--which I find odd that there was no response of any kind.

I don't get the point of this challenge, as there's nothing to win here. Usually there's a stipulation that the winner is shooting for. I guess it's just about one upswomanship, more than anything.

And why two women from Smack Down are wrestling on RAW wasn't explained either.

Ronda Rousey taps out Sarah Logan with an armbar. Good match, in 1 minute 25 seconds.

Charlotte vs. Ruby Riott ends in a No Decision, as Charlotte didn't come under Rousey's time. So the match ended. Charlotte attacked Becky out of frustration, prior to the third match.

Becky beats Liv Morgan via roll up with a bridge, beating Rousey's time by 7 seconds. Stupid end, as it was hard to believe Liv didn't kick out. But they wanted Becky on top here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finn Balor beats Jinder Mahal & Bobby Lashley with a Coup de Grace on Jinder. This was for the opportunity for an IC title match at Mania. Lio was supposed to compete, but wasn't cleared due to injury, so Jinder took his place.

An irate Lashley took out his frustration on the Singh Bros. & a spear for Jinder. Good match.

This feud won't end.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elias is in NY, he's shown three times during the broadcast talking about NY, being the musical headliner at Mania, etc. The first two segments were funny, not the third.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aleister Black & Ricochet beat The Revival in a non-title match. Black lands a double Black Mass, followed up with a 630 onto Wilder by Ricochet. Good match, although they (the four men) didn't seem to be clicking at different points in the match.

One moment was Ricochet doing a maneuver off of the apron onto Wilder on the ringside floor, in which he basically missed the spot.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Corey talks about HHH responding later to what Batista said last week. Cole repeats what he said.

I'm wondering if Cole is having hearing issues. He's not hearing things during the broadcast. He's repeating things. He's plainly just messing up in other spots (maybe overcompensating).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drew McIntyre wants an answer from Roman Reigns & he got it. Fisticuffs ensue, with Roman getting the upper hand early. That changed via a low blow from McIntyre, followed by a Claymore.

So we have Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns at Wrestle Mania.

He's walking in the back & gets confronted by Ambrose (Drew talked about him when he was waiting for Roman's answer). Dean challenges him to a Last Man Standing Match.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another No Decision with Nia Jax & Tamina interfering in a match between Sasha Banks & Natalya. They had their respective partners at ringside, with Beth Phoenix showing she still has it as she gets Nia up across her shoulders & Tamina in the Glam Slam.

Looks like a Fatal Four-Way will be had with these three teams & The IIconics at Mania, although nothing official has been announced as of yet.

After Nattie & Beth clear things in the ring, it's announced that The Hart Foundation are the newest inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kurt Angle is interviewed in the back & tells Baron Corbin to screw off when he interrupted him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Moment of Bliss with the SNL guys via satellite & Braun in the ring. A back & forth ensues, with things culminating in the SNL guys being entered into the Andre the Giant Battle Royal.

And Braun's the only one talking about it. So far there are only these three entrants.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baron Corbin beats Apollo Crews with an End of Days. Gives him another after the match for good measure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seth Rollins comes out to talk & at the end is interrupted by Paul Heyman. Rollins confronts Heyman at the top of the ramp, leaving Heyman quivering.

Lesnar will be on RAW next week. Wow, that's a lot of appearances for the champ.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kurt Angle pins Samoa Joe while in a Clutch (that's been happening way too often), to continue Angle's Farewell Tour. Why this is happening on RAW, no clue. But Angle is facing AJ Styles tonight on Smack Down & Rey Mysterio next week.

I would've rather had Angle teaming up with Apollo to face Corbin & Joe. Have Corbin lose to further what's going on with them, while saving face for Joe in the process. He's looking rather weak for a US champ heading into Mania (lost to Kofi last week).

Bad moment in the match where Joe poorly delivered a snap suplex. Don't want Angle injured before he retires!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big Show sighting -- he's on the Happy! TV show Wednesday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HHH talks crap on Batista, confirms this is a Career vs. Career Match, if that wasn't explained clearly before. Funny moments, with a snafu intermixed as HHH couldn't get an envelope out of his leather jacket's inside pocket.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drew McIntyre beats Dean Ambrose, putting him thru a table then following that up with a Claymore.

Tell me why the SHIELD brothers weren't involved here? A Triple Power Bomb was in order.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, this was a good show.

Smack Down

New Day come out, float the idea of quitting the WWE. They call out Vince, so he comes out. Daniel Bryan (with Rowan) interrupts. Xavier is calling him Bryan (stay in character!!). Vince said in order for Kofi to be in at Wrestle Mania against Daniel Bryan, Xavier & Big E have to win a Tag Team Gauntlet Match.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Becky is being interviewed in the back, talking about Charlotte. Mid-interview & she gets interrupted by Charlotte's music. Charlotte is heading for the ring & she has a title match for Smack Down's Women's title against Asuka.

Charlotte taps out Asuka in the Figure 8 to win the title. This was a shocking development.

A lot of questions now. Like, how does this impact Wrestle Mania? Is she still going to be in the Main Event? If so, will both titles be on the line? Will Rousey have to be pinned or submit to lose her belt (same with Charlotte)?

Why do this anyway? Sure, there didn't seem to be neither a plan nor title match for Asuka at Wrestle Mania, so this is what they came up with?

This may be moot if Charlotte has to defend the title next week on Smack Down & loses.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Commercial for Extreme Rules in Philly on July 14th, pitting Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre & Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin. So far out, naturally that can change. Found it interesting though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Decision? for Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles, as Randy Orton interferes and delivers an RKO to AJ. Kurt delivered an Angle Slam to Orton to clear him from the ring.

This was Angle's last match on Smack Down.

When being introduced, Angle passed Charlotte, who just won her title match. I don't like how the WWE doesn't let their performers clear out before introducing the next match.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rey Mysterio is doing an interview in the back, about facing Samoa Joe at Wrestle Mania for the U.S. title. His son Dominic is with him again.

I'm thinking the kid is going to go into the wrestling business & that's why he's here accompanying Rey.

I also think he's going to cost his "father" the win at Wrestle Mania, helping out Joe--to reveal that Joe is his real father.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miz calls out Shane & wants to add a stipulation to their Wrestle Mania match. He wants to make it a Falls Count Anywhere match, so he can beat him all around the arena.

Shane comes out, with regular security & some added security in the form of Primo Colon, Shelton Benjamin & Sanity.

He takes shot at Miz & Miz's father, and that spawning him was a Miztake.

Miz goes after him, becomes Uber-Miz, as he takes out the security guys & the wrestlers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fatal Four-Way Women's Tag Match at Wrestle Mania, between Sasha/Bayley, Nia/Tamina, Nattie/Beth & The IIconics has been confirmed by The IIconics.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tag Team Gauntlet

New Day beats Gallows & Anderson with an Up-Up-Down-Down on Anderson.

New Day beats Nakamura & Rusev with an Up-Up-Down-Down on Nakamura. BTW, Lana isn't walking with a boot any longer. Man, Rusev needs to go to RAW in the Super Star Shakeup, so he can get a restart.

New Day beats The Bar as Xavier rolls up Sheamus. Before their next match, The Barbeat down on them and as an exclamation mark, they put Big E thru a table.

Usos come out. Being a fan of Kofi's, they forfeit.

See an irate Daniel Bryan & Rowan in the back, throwing a collective tantrum. They are the New Day's final opponent.

New Day wins with a Count Out on Rowan, as he was "buried" under the announcer's table, and Daniel Bryan was taken out earlier.

Kofi & the face locker room come down to the ring, celebrate Kofi's inclusion in Wrestle Mania. Byron Saxton joins the fun too.

Vince is interviewed before he leaves the arena, saying we'll have to see if a B+ player can beat Daniel Bryan.

Remember when they tried to keep Daníel Bryan out of the WrestleMania title picture because he was a “B+ player”

So much time, yet so little has changed.

NXT

1 Hour, 6 Minutes worth of show, but didn't get into any actual wrestling until around the 20-25 minute mark.

They started with Adam Cole coming to the ring to talk about the upcoming NXT title match at Take Over NY (the title is on a podium in the ring). He calls out Johnny Gargano, who promptly joins him. Cole talks about how he earned his spot & wondered what Johnny did to earn his.

He actually didn't do anything to be named for the title shot, but went into a litany of his accomplishments, from the 1st day he tried out for NXT up until now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Decision in the actual first match of the night. Vanessa Borne & Aliyah were facing Lacey Lane & Kacy Catanzaro. I was genuinely excited to see some new blood in NXT.

Lacey's hair is all over the place when she wrestles. You'd think she'd need to address that at some point.

Kacy came to the ring & scaled the ring post for her entrance. You realize how small she is when she's standing on the ring apron waiting for a tag.

I was really ticked when they had Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir come down to interfere. The match just started, and I wanted to see these ladies compete. Borne & Aliyah got out of Dodge. Baszler took out Lane. Catanzaro got some licks in before succumbing to Baszler's Clutch. She sold it too, even though it was a chin lock more than anything, as Baszler didn't even do her own hold correctly.

With Borne & Aliyah performing so horribly last time we saw them in the ring, they really need all the ring time they can get too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matt Riddle taps out Kona Reeves, even while he gets distracted by Velveteen Dream. Dream was sitting on a couch and was pushed/pulled onto the top of the ramp by a couple of ladies.

Still have no idea what the submission hold is called, and really doesn't look like much of anything to be honest.

Kona needs to put on some muscle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aleister Black & Ricochet beat The Forgotten Sons, winning the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tag Team Tournament. Black landed a Black Mass on Wesley Blake & Ricochet followed up with a 630.

They face the War Raiders for the tag titles at Take Over. War Raiders came to the ring & had a stare down with the #1 contenders to end the show.

I was hoping for a Forgotten Sons win, as I think they should think about the future more for NXT. One would think that Black & Ricochet wouldn't be winning the titles, because of their well received performances on RAW & Smack Down. Personally, I don't think they should be competing on NXT any longer.

NXT UK - Still in Coventry. 1 Hour, 5 Minutes worth of show & unlike NXT, they get right into it.

Jordan Devlin beats Dan Moloney with a ripcord suplex. This was a good, competitive match. The only downside was I wished it went a bit longer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kassius Ohno comes to the ring to read an "apology" to Ashton Smith. He then talks about Travis Banks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dave Mastiff vignette, followed by one from Jinny (who's in India, at the WWE's Performance Center there).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhea Ripley beats Xia Brookside with a Riptide. She goes on the mic & talks some trash to Xia after the match. Then comments that she's the most dominant woman in NXT UK. Then comes out newcomer Piper Niven. Ripley exits & Niven goes on the mic saying that she's now the most dominant for NXT UK's women's division. Don't know who she is, so we'll see.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isla Dawn is in the back being interviewed about Niven's entrance to NXT UK. Kay Lee Ray interrupts her. They'll be facing each other next week.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They do a vignette on Walter. An interview with Trent Seven follows, with him talking about how Joe Coffey calls him a weak link in Moustache Mountain. They'll be facing off next week.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner then comment on the vignette from Amir Jordan & Kenny Williams when they were in the gym, commenting that they need to learn that "the mat is sacred."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No Contest between Mark Andrews & the Scottish Supernova, Noam Dar. Scary moment as Andrews' head/shoulder went into the back of Dar's lower leg, injuring him. This stopped the match.

They called it a "No Contest" as they said both couldn't continue (Andrews showed a leg injury as well), although I think this was more work on Andrews' end.

Dar suffered a legit injury. They were both stretchered out.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Johnny Saint & Sid Scala come to the ring for a contract signing between Pete Dunne & Walter for the NXT UK title match at Take Over.

Scala is the future GM, no doubt. Saint didn't even say a word.

For the "Biggest Match in the European Union" I find it a bit odd that they're having the match in New York City. That just doesn't seem right.

Walter signs, with no comment. Then Dunne proclaims he wanted this match. He signs & turns to exit. Walter calls him back. He tells him he could easily put him thru the table, but doesn't need to. That he'll take the title at Take Over. Stare down ends the show.

RAW in Washington D.C.

Stephanie comes out to the top of the ramp & declares that both women's titles are on the line in a "Winner Takes All" for the main event at Wrestle Mania.

I think this is a bad move if both titles can be held by one person. Would this possibly lead to a unified title? God, I hope not, as that would be taking a step backwards in this "Evolution."

What I would hope, is that Charlotte has to defend the title on tonight's Smack Down & loses it. And since we're seeing Smack Down stars on RAW, why not have a RAW super star on Smack Down taking the title? Alexa Bliss would be a good way to go & have her on Smack Down. Then she can be her usual snarky self as host of Wrestle Mania, with title belt in hand. Or maybe if Ember Moon is back from injury (don't know what her status is)? If need be, have Becky help cost Charlotte the title.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman come to the ring. Heyman talks about Lesnar ending Seth Rollins' career at WM. Rollins comes out, has some words for Lesnar & then attacks him. Seth hits him with a low blow, gets German'd, follows up with a second low blow, a super kick & then ends his assault with a stomp, leaving the champ in the ring.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Team of Natalya/Beth Phoenix/Sasha Banks/Bayley beat the team of Nia Jax/Tamina/IIconics with a Glam Slam to Peyton Royce.

Nia & Tamina didn't even bother tagging into this match, but got a few hits in prior to Beth Phoenix tackling Tamina into the barricade towards the end of the contest.

Bit of a screw up on Sasha Banks' part, as she tried to run up the ropes, but slipped.

She's not a great performer on most occasions. Yes, she had a fantastic match with Ronda, but everything else I see her in, she just plainly sucks. I think the ring is just too big for her. That sounds odd, but watch her run across the ring compared to others. She's not fluid at all. She basically stutter steps every time she moves. Maybe she needs to make a conscious effort in taking longer strides? She just needs A LOT more ring work. Which sounds even odder, with all the time she's been in the ring and is a tag team champion.

They're really pushing Beth Phoenix--and she's delivering. She could be back for good.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Batista comes to the ring & tells HHH to kiss his ass.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elias is outside of Metlife Stadium in NY.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apollo Crews beats Jinder Mahal with a frog splash. Other wrestlers surrounded the ring, those who will be participating in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. I saw a disinterested EC3 at ringside. If this was how they were going to use him, he would've been better off staying in NXT.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kurt Angle comes out, they have a video montage of his career. Baron Corbin comes out, gets chased to the ring by Rey Mysterio, who is supposed to face Angle for his last match on RAW.

I say supposed to, as the match didn't occur. Instead they're having Corbin face Mysterio.

I guess that's okay (just not as a main event). Angle really can't go any more and putting him in with a speedy guy like Mysterio would've been awful.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte is interviewed backstage. Both Becky & Ronda have interview segments too, interspersed throughout the evening.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Revival defend their titles against Ricochet & Aleister Black & win via count out. Dawson--who was under the ring at the time--held onto Ricochet's leg, preventing him from re-entering the ring before the 10 count.

This led to a Black Mass on both Revival members, followed by a 630 onto Wilder.

Thinking of the WM card, the only tag titles on the line are the women's. Another WM the Uso's will be missing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alexa Bliss is in the back, talking to Tyler Breeze about hosting, Braun & the SNL guys. EC3 is there as well, mocking what is being said. Braun Strowman comes up upon them, as Breeze & EC3 are laughing. They mislead him to believing that two jobbers are referencing an SNL skit. Braun is going to treat these two jobbers as if they were the SNL guys, when he faces both in the ring in a 1 on 2 handicap match.

Here's a question. Should they get rid of the use of the word "handicap" in matches? Especially with the WWE's involvement with different persons with disabilities charities/organization...isn't this an antiquated term--and an offensive one at that--to still be using? They could just as easily call it 1 on 2 and leave it at that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roman Reigns is being interviewed backstage & gets attacked by Drew McIntyre.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Becky/Ronda/Charlotte beat The Riott Squad as Liv Morgan taps out to a Rousey arm bar.

There was an odd stipulation for this match, in that if any of the three (Becky, Ronda or Charlotte) hit or cost their team a victory, then that person wouldn't be participating in the main event at WM.

I would've loved to have seen Ronda do something, taking herself out of the main event. That would've been interesting, to say the least.

Anyway, after the match concluded, Rousey went straight to attacking her teammates. This led to security coming down. Then police officers. All three eventually were handcuffed, and more shenanigans ensued in the back. Including a spot with a handcuffed Rousey, in the back of a car, getting kneed by Charlotte. Causing her face to go into the side of the broken out window frame, basically eating it. Hope she's okay, as that didn't look good.

I suspect--and would book it as such--Stephanie McMahon will make herself the special guest referee for the WM match.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heavy Machinery beats Glorious Gable with a Compactor on Gable. Look for a Glorious breakup soon.

Lacey Evans came down during the match, distracting the participants. I would've had her come out when Becky, Ronda & Charlotte were being led up to the ramp handcuffed instead, showing how unladylike they were all behaving.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Braun Strowman beats the jobbers with a double power slam. Good work by those two.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bobby Lashley & Lio Rush are interviewed in the ring regarding the IC title match at WM. Balor interrupts them via the jumbotron. He informs them--and shows-- that he won't be facing Finn Balor, but rather, he'll be facing The Demon.

Okay, they made this match interesting now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Commercial of Gronk & a Wrestle Mania moment. Could the recently retired Gronk show up at this year's Mania? Leading to a match against Jinder Mahal?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baron Corbin beats Rey Mysterio with a Deep Six. As Corbin celebrates at the top of the ramp, he gets attacked by Kurt Angle and the show ends up with Corbin in an Ankle Lock.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay show. Just wished it was a tad better leading into Wrestle Mania.

Smack Down - in Baltimore

KO Show starts the program, with Randy Orton & AJ Styles. They're really letting this feud get personal. More of Orton talking about AJ taking forever to get to the WWE (although he was actually in it briefly, prior to going to WCW & TNA), performing in front of dozens while he was performing in front of tens of thousands & working Wrestle Manias for 20 years.

Then AJ goes lower by bringing up Orton's failed drug tests. Wow. He actually went there. Randy drives his last point home by saying AJ has taken over for Cena, being the company's corporate beeyotch (can't put the actual word here).

KO left the ring (really funny), before the two went at it. Going for a Phenomenal 4-Arm, Randy turned it into an RKO.

I think they should've left that kind of spot for Wrestle Mania. Because if they do it again it won't look so unique.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aleister Black/Ricochet/Usos beat Rusev/Nakamura/The Bar via a double superkick from The Usos onto Rusev.

Then The Goddess's music hits--Alexa Bliss! God, I was hoping she was there to challenge Charlotte, but she was there to inform The Usos that because of their actions during the Gauntlet Match the week prior, that there would be repercussions. And they are that The Usos will be competing in a Fatal 4-Way match between the competitors in this match, with their tag titles on the line.

Good to see they weren't forgotten (as I posted yesterday), but REALLY disappointed that this was the only reason Alexa was here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The IIconics come to the ring to talk about their Wrestle Mania match. They're not at all over with the crowd. Probably because their voices are so irritating. It's like someone running their fingernails down a chalkboard. Or sounding like Stephanie McMahon.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame this year is Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. This is a solid class. Wonder who will introduce each, I'm guessing Hulk Hogan for The Barber.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miz beats Sanity on a 1-on-3, pinning Eric Young outside the arena after ramming a laundry cart into him. This was a "Handicap" match originally, but Shane McMahon made it a Falls Count Anywhere Match, to serve as a preview for their match at Wrestle Mania. We see Shane being driven away after the match.

Then a police car drives up to the arena. And The Man Becky Lynch steps out of it. She takes the mic from Corey Graves, who was going to interview her in the ring, but she instead talked to the people on the announcer's table.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18-Person Mixed Tag Team Match

No Decision as the match broke down to a pseudo-battle royal, a preview of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal & a Battle Royal the women will be having. Because you know the WWE, they have to have two of the same type of matches for both rosters.

Team One had: Naomi, Asuka, Nikki Cross, Hardy Boyz, Heavy Machinery, Carmella & R-Truth

Team Two had: Gallows & Anderson, Shelton Benjamin, EC3, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Andrade, Zelina Vega & Lana

Naturally, there was a Lacey Evans interruption during this match.

Some notable moments include: Andrade's face hitting the ring apron as he went over the ropes; EC3 receiving a nasty kick to the face from Asuka; and with Jeff Hardy & Asuka the last two performers in the ring, Asuka stopped celebrating with him & decided to throw him over the top rope.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rey Mysterio was scheduled to face Andrade, but Mysterio suffered an ankle injury during his match with Baron Corbin on RAW. His match with Samoa Joe at Wrestle Mania is in question now.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samoa Joe taps out Ali with a Kachina Clutch. Formerly known as Mustafa Ali, now going by Ali.

Joe took some nasty shots to the face during this match, first via a drop kick, then later a kick to the mouth.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel Bryan & Rowan come to the ring for a contract signing for the World Title Match at Wrestle Mania. Kofi & the New Day join them (Michael Cole as moderator).

Daniel has some life lessons for Kofi, while calling the crowd parasites, before Kofi took the mic.

The funniest thing during this exchange was the constant gyrations from Big E, feeding off of the crowd.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watched Miz & Mrs. afterwards. That show is awesome, no doubt. Really funny. Should be an hour, not a half hour. Oh, and there's a Dolph Ziggler sighting.
