Yeah, absolutely.

Job hunting SUCKS!

Especially when you are the most qualified candidate for a job and you still get passed up because they offer it to someone's relative/friend/favor whatever.

Especially when you are over qualified for the job you are applying for and wiling to take the pay cut and crappy hours and you get overlooked in favor of some first-timer out of school.

Especially when you live in a job market that is constantly "downsizing"" and "streamlining" while simultaneously putting out approx. 2400 graduates in your field to the job pool each year.

don't get me started on how much I hate job hunting!

Well I have two interviews on Tuesday.

Positives - they are in or near where my wife and I would like to move and buy a house, they will require less of my time and have better hours

Negatives - they will cost me about 14,000 in salary per year. That one hurts.

My wife and I are hoping to move this summer and we're both hunting for new jobs so we can make that happen and we're getting no where.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with you. I'm in the same situation... JOB HUNTING.
Posting so many resumés here and there. I'm starting to forget all the usernames and passwords for all of them.

I signed up with 4-5 staffing agencies but still a crap shoot.

Oh... here's more.
NOT all Graphic Designers are Web Designers and vice versa.
NOT all Graphic Designers design in EXCEL or MICROSOFT WORD.

And since when do receptionists count as Graphic Designers?

Just a bit frustrated.

Again I do feel your pain on the JOB HUNT.

 It's funny. I was going through my art over the weekend. I graduated from The Art Institute of Seattle about 16 years ago. My direction was art direction-illustration. I had very little assistance from the school, despite the commercials and ended up working at a lot of sign shops. I eventually just gave up trying to get my foot in the door. Which looking back at my design work is a shame I couldn't get work in a ad agency. While my computer skills sucked, my advertising skills still holds up. I was much more impressed with my art direction than I was with most of the illustrations. I'm sure at this point I'd have to go back to school if I wanted to get back into that arena and I just don't have it in me to do that. I have no idea if my credits would transfer over so that I could work on my bachelor's or not? And I'm certainly not going back to AIS.

Most if not all of your credits should still be good. It took me 20 years to get my AA, but I did. My third job ever was airport shuttle bus driver. I went into the army from there and they just kept giving me more vehicles. When I got out Texas gave me a class A, and I was working at a trucking company when the CDL system began so I tested and got my CDL. I have held onto that even though I have not driven in 7 years. 4 weeks ago I got fired. I heard on the radio that Forbes says the average turnaround on a job is 10 months. I got hired to drive a school bus last week and I am going through pre employment for the new school year now. Also because I have driven a bus before for 8 years, I get consideration on my pay rate, don't know how much yet. My mom showed me a newspaper article which says they are having a hard time getting drivers because many are leaving to go into the oil industry.

This just goes to show, hold on to every qualification you have, don't know when you may need to use it.

CCC.

I might check and see if my degree counts. As long as they are accredited with the state I might have better luck getting my Bachelor in Arts. Food for thought I guess. Not sure how I feel about being in my mid 40's and going back to a classroom though :? It is going to be bad enough when I need to help our little guy with his homework.

I know that I can take either 3 or 5 classes, on line, and have an AS in Law Enforcement right now. I saw an article that schools like Harvard and Yale are offering free on line classes because of the drop in attendance.
