I remember a monster from one of the compendiums that was a type of undead, some sort of spirit/ghost, looks like a normal, healthy human and wears a floor length robe but under the robe the body starts to deteriorate just below the collarbone leaving the rib cage and rotting inards exposed which goes down to just a dangling spinal cord with the remaining body floating in mid-air. My old gamer buddies remember the entry but none of us can remember the name of the thing and my MCs were lost mostly to water damage when my parents' house burned so I can't research it myself...
Does anyone remember this monster?... Better yet, anyone remember what the thing is called or which compendium it was in?...

I immediately thought of the vargouillee.
But those guys are just heads. Sorry.
I vaguely recall what you are talking about. Probably a rave loft creature.

thanks for the input, Bill... you're the first person to bring up the vargouillee, everyone I've talked to so far goes straight to the penanggalen (the flying head with dangling entrails) then seems to recall something vague about the one I'm talking about. One did agree that it was probably from the Ravenloft volume...
