We might see another cult pull a Guyana like the ones who killed themselves around the Millennium so aliens would whisk away their souls to another planet. Can't remember how it went except that the guy leading them looked creepy as hell.

At least with 2012, there are no computer malfunctions to fear like Y2K. There's also a lot more social turmoil going on around the world than in 1999. How that works out in favor or against these prophesies remains to be seen. I'm betting that most people will ignore 12/21 and continue toppling dictatorships.

Wasn't Y2K enough?

Plus whenever one of them ever gets its right-- its not like they will get to say I told you so...

Stew, that was hilarious. *tips hat* 8)

It's gonna be as kooky as the milennium scare and as pointless.

Think about it. Any calendar humans have used are arbitrary. It's currently November 2, 2011 because Pope Gregory said it is. I don't know what day it is in China, but they use/used a different calendar and so did/does Israel.

No one knows exactly what day the earth was formed and consequently our methods to track days, months and years are man made and have nothing really to do with the cosmos.

LOL!

You know, I always smirk to myself when I think about all the bible-thumping protestants that use a catholic created calendar. I often wonder why Martin Luther didn't create his own. . .

Yeah, old Gregory sure did mess things up. I don't believe anyone uses the Julian calendar anymore do they? Various notables born from the 1500's through the 1900's have Old Style and New Style birthdays listed in the various history books and online resources. Nowadays, that would've given kids an excuse to party on two different occasions.

BTW: Love the new avatar, Glenn. Very cool. 8)

Thanks, Clutch. My son showed me how to add it while he was visiting last week.

The Syrian monastery story sounds like an archeologist's wet dream alright, but long as their civil war keeps raging on there's not gonna be much chance of digging anything new. In fact, the whole place could get blown up real good instead.

As for the hole, I love how Red Elk berates the reporter for being curious. I do agree with him on one point: If you want to be taken seriously you do NOT go on Art Bell's show and sound off about it. That's like stirring up a hornet's nest.

If they do find the hole, I'd dig up all my dead parakeets and our cockatiel. Just toss 'em in and see what transpires. I still miss those little guys like crazy...
