You need to post that photo!

Enjoying the stories, fellas! Fascinating!

I had a conversation with a friend not long ago about her belief in reincarnation. She asked if I believed in past lives, etc. I respectfully said I did not, but that I was interested in hearing all about her convictions. Rather passionately, she said that "If someone really believes something happened, then it did." I should have just let it go, but I gently disagreed and posed a few probing questions. Long story short, this friend got upset with me for being firm in my convictions (that happened to be contrary to hers.) I've learned that its best to keep opinions to myself and just enjoy the stories!

I've had that happen a few times. I have firm beliefs as well, but I also try to keep an open mind when it comes to these sort of things. And I enjoy challenging ideas and thoughts in discussion, because I want to get people thinking and find out what makes them tick. Although, I've found that most people get really upset and defensive when they perceive their personal beliefs are being threatened, which is a bummer because I really enjoy pondering the universe and all the potential mysteries out there. I think it's just too much to think about for many people.

Dan - that photo was at my laptop at my previous employer whose training this was (I've moved onto another employer), so I left it on that laptop when I left. Not that I'd particularly would want to keep it, anyway. And some of you will say, "How convenient that he doesn't have the photo", but sorry, it's true.

The Taman Shud Case, 1948, Adelaide, Australia, a man was found dead on the beach. His dental records did not match any known person. He carried no identification. The labels on his business suit and clothing were all missing. In one trouser pocket there was a piece of paper with the words 'Taman Shud' on it. This is a phrase on the last page of collection of poems called the The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and it means 'the end.'

Ryan, you and I think so much alike, it's scary. I went back to look for that article two days back but couldn't remember the name. Seeing that guy's dead mug creeps the heck out of me every time. :(

I think he was, indeed, a spy and someone who knew so offed him. The time (1948) is right as the Cold War was just beginning. The page being missing and that whole code he was writing on the back points to espionage. It was probably eating that pasty that did him in...

This link page at Wiki has lots of really intriguing stuff in it:

Here's another two more that still leave me kind of baffled:

ha awesome, I really dig that Taman Shud story. I agree that he was likely a spy, but still creepy. And that Spaceman pic is so bizarre. Not particularly scary, but so odd.

I gotta check out that Wiki page on mysteries; LOTS of fodder for discussion there!

I never bought it but there is a pretty popular magazine called "Weird New Jersey." A recurring subject is the very creepy Clinton Road in my hometown. Lots and lots of stories.

Clinton Road: A place where midgets, albinos, and Nazis co-exist in harmony.

Or maybe that's why so much havoc is being perpetuated around the place! :?

I think I'd rather stumble across Bigfoot in the dark rather than a bunch of Satan worshipers...

And even more thought-provoking: Time slips!

Thanks! Scroll down at the following link for "genuine" pics from the year 2036!

I have personally seen two UFO's in my life. Somewhere around here I have a grainy picture of one of them, taken with a 110 Instamatic camera, so you can guess as to the quality.

A friend of mine has had at least one "Bigfoot" encounter, and is convinced that they exist just because of the preponderence of such encounters. They can't ALL be dismissed. He is of the opinion that "Bigfoot" may be a modern relative of Gigantopithicus (and I hope I spelled that right).

Now, if you want conspiracies and UFO's all rolled into one, here's something that's bugged me since I first saw it in the mid-to-late 1980's. My parents were watching a football game on TV -- pro or college, I don't recall. I was not a football fan at the time. At one point towards the end of the game they told me to come see what was on the TV.

There, on the television broadcast of the game (!), were two UFO's, hovering just outside and above the stadium. They appeared to be a couple of glowing, multi-colored orbs.

The game concluded, and as the teams were leaving the field, something -- I don't know what -- caused a slight explosion and burst of white smoke VERY close to one of the exiting football players, who jumped back, unhurt but clearly alarmed.

After that, there was just one UFO in the sky.

All of this -- ON TELEVISION -- and I've never been able to find a shred of information about it online (or anywhere else), nor have I ever heard it mentioned on any of those UFO encounter compilation shows that air on Discovery or SyFy or History sporadically.
