I am a big fan of plastic army men ever since my childhood when I used to have huge backyard battles with my buddy. I still have a bin full of those childhood soldiers, and many have survived intact. Now that I'm older and working, Ive gained a massive interest in vintage army men from the decades before I was born. The 50's through the 70's were great times for green plastic soldiers, and the molds were fantastic. Ebay is a great source for vintage plastic soldiers, but my best finds are from the thrift stores in my area. The companies I mainly try to collect are Marx and Tim Mee, but there are other amazing manufacturers as well. Not only are there great plastic army men figures, but there are also awesome cowboys/indians, space, and fantasy figures. I hope you guys enjoy the pics as much as I enjoy collecting them!

I remember having some of these as a kid but, man, I had no idea they were available in so many different colors.

I had a bunch of those pop-apart cowboys and Indians (and a handful of Revolutionary war soldiers, too) that I remember getting from Woolworth waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. Also had a few bags of those generic sci-fi figures (girl with computer, antennae'd Chebacca-wannabe), too.

def, are you checking out the newer stuff?... I know that Walmart is carrying a few $5 tubes of figures like these - soldiers vs zombies, pirates vs ninjas, etc. - and that there are some being offered by Accoutrements/Archie McPhee.

Toys R Us has buckets of these as well.

I've seen Army, Cowboys, Romans, and SciFi but they may've had others that I'm not remembering.

Great collection, man ! I've glot a good assortment too - large scale Marx cowboy and indian.

Never seen the medic carrying the wounded before (recast ?).

I've been looking for the Marx German (gray) half track personal carrier. Astronauts, firefighters, Mexicans, civil War dudes - great stuff, great memories.
