Awesome. These guys were the precursors for Marvel Universe and DC Infinite Heroes. I had Spidey, Hulk, Superman, and the rare Batmobile with Batman and Robin boxed set. They're all long gone now. I wish I had gotten Aquaman and Cap because they always looked the coolest. I missed these guys when Mego went out of business. Congratulations on your collection!

You should check out my Remco thread for a few more pics of these.

Good stuff. I have vivid memories of getting the MEGO Comic Action Heroes Spidey and my brother getting the Hulk. I still have my Spiderman and have been trying to get a Hulk but he doesn't show up much on eBay. The Pocket Heroes version does, but not the CAH with bent legs. Thanks for the pics!!!

Ya know, I had several of these as a kid and I really wanted those playsets with the exploding parts but I could never get over how bad those things were... That's not me talking at 43, that was how I felt at 8. The lack of paint ops and overall quality compared to Adventure People or Star Wars a year or so later was obvious even to a kid. The lack of the green undershirt on Robin, the lack of paint on Wonder Woman's tiara, braclets and belt, no yellow on Superman or Batman's logos... All of Mego's 3 3/4 lines suffered from lack of paint ops, I can't think of a single unmasked person in any of their 3 3/4 lines that didn't use sculpt instead of paint for the eyes (and Mattel was just as guilty of that during the same era). I had a ton of Mego stuff before Star Wars (mostly 8" superheroes) and I loved most of it and played with them endlessly but for a company that was the largest toy manufacturer of the time and that is as revered as much as it is today the products were junk. Okay, not Remco or AHI junk, but it was fragile, thrown together to make a quick buck and utterly disposable compared to what Hasbro, Mattel, Kenner, Marx or Gabriel were releasing during the same time. The playsets were either vinyl covered cardboard that got crushed if you looked at it wrong (some weren't even covered in vinyl, just heavy, glossy cardboard) or vacuformed syrene which cracked at the slightest bit of pressure.
There, I've said it... Didn't mean to derail your thread LordMudd, but I just had to get that out... I now await the toy gods to strike me down...

I'm pretty sure I only had four of them: Superman, Aquaman, Kirk, and Spock. And I played the hell out of them to the point that they all pretty much lost their accessories within a few months. One thing I do clearly remember is stripping Spock down completely and having him fight Aquaman as the Sub-mariner! To a eight year old, I guess one dark-haired, pointed-eared man is as good as another. Man, those were the days . . .

Talking about crossover toys in the eye of a kid, Vultan from Flash Gordon is a half way decent Hawkman, and pitting Aquaman against the Kraken from Clash of the Titans line sounds like fun.

The Fortress of Solitude and Batcave playsets have been two of my Holy Grails since I was a kid. I was able to get the Batmobile gift set in 1981. I used it as Cobra Commander's personal limo for many years after that and had Toth from the Indiana Jones line ride along with CC.
These all could work great with Infinite Heroes or Marvel Universe nowadays. The JLA meeting table from DCD's version of Pocket Super Heroes is also a nice addition if you can find one.

LOL! And if you lift their other arm, it looks they're saying: "Wait! I'm not through yet." It might have something to do with the C.B. McHaul line: http://www.toymania.com/334archives/cb/index.htm(Courtesy of Kevin Lenz's awesome 3 3/4-inch Archives.) If you thought Comic Action/Pocket Super Heroes looked nutty, you haven't lived until you've seen these dudes. Everyone there is busy doing the Locomotion! Even the cops are getting into the act. I think it was some kind of pose the Mego designers came up with to have a figure "drive" their respective vehicle. Either that, or the guys at Mego were smoking some mighty wacky tobaccy at the time.

Its just so obvious. I've had some Comic Action Heroes (with the stress on "Action") here at the office on occasion and that's pretty much the first comment out of people's mouth when they see them!
