it amazes me just how cool some of those early figures were, and just how awful that line became.

I think all of mine are back in my folks attic. I may have to dig those out while I'm back home for the holidays.

I just found my Slash today while going through some old toy boxes.

I had almost all the first 3 years' worth of figures (since when I started collecting toys the early 90s were a wasteland for new, cool lines) then dropped them when Toy Biz started taking off and Hasbro revived the various Batman lines.

Around 1995 I had them at a garage sale and a kid came up with his grandmother, trying to choose which two he could buy with the $5 he got for his birthday. I gave him the entire collection for $5. Except for Slash (I like him, for some reason).

Still, every now and then I think about picking up again those first few years of unique characters...

I've got a few more, but I don't have space to display everything yet.

Both you guys have awesome collections! They look so great loose with all the colors and accessories. I've always wanted a collection of these. The one thing is, they're a little later than my time, so they hold no nostaligic value for me, I just dig the way they look and all the crazy animal figures (like Ray Filet, Mondo Gecko, Scratch, the elephant dude whose name escapes me, Halfcourt, Ace Duck, etc.)

Ah this makes me miss my turtles collection. I had quite a lot of them. Ended up selling them all to a toy shop some time ago.

I remember this as the first line that I was "too old" for. I liked the Eastman and Laird comics, and the cartoon was anything but. My cousin, who was 4 at the time, loved the cartoon and therefore the toys. I used to take him out for our "weekend bonding" and would generally end the day with a new figure or two.

The only one I ever wanted for myself was an Usagi Yojimbo but never got around to it. Seeing all this chatter and the wonderful pics makes think its finally time.

Guess I'm heading back to eBay ...

AHHHH,
The memories, though I didn't have many, I had the ones that counted. Shredder and Casey Jones were my favorites by far and I always wanted but never got a foot soldier. Maybe one day I'll get them again!

I never liked the fact Sherder was shirtless. So I got my sister to tie his cape around his toroso to make it look like he had a shirt. I looked retty good too. She didn't even need to detach the cape.

I did the same thing....It was just a piece of cloth with a hole cut in it for his head, and it tucked into his belt.

Hope I am not stepping on anbodys toes posting thesae here. Never saw this thread before. I must admit I love the diverse cool scupts Playmates offered with this line. Sad when it turned to like Star Trek TMNT, Pirate ATMNT, Clown TMNT and so on. Some of the animal mutant concepts were awesome.
