What was the first action figure you remember getting as a kid?

Also, did you get more or less action figures than your friends?

The first one I remember getting was Leech from MOTU. I remember being in TRU and wanting to get Stinkor but, because his "gimmick" was emitting a foul smell, my mom said no, so I got Leech instead.

Mego Batman.

And yeah... I had a lot more than my friends and neighbors.

The first figure I remember having were some FP Little People and some Weebles. From there it was the FP Muppets figures and then I started recognizing figures and asking specifically for them once Star Wars hit.

It was all downhill from there.

Luckily I had a very close group of friends in the apartment complex I grew up in and we all specialized in one line.

I was Star Wars and Super Powers.
My brother was GI Joe
my neighbor had Transformers out the wazoo (his dad travelled international for business and always brought some changing robot home with him)
a few kids down was He-Man

there was a Matchbox/Hot Wheels kid, a train set kid, etc.

We were never without something to play with. And since we all had our own favorite lines, we could easily mix things up and still go home with our own figures and never a fight between us.

Good times.

I remember the Fisher Price Little People castle and the Mickey Mouse Weebles, but I can't remember if they were my brother's or my sister's. I do remember the Mego Batman. I think he was the official first action figure and now he's gone. No idea what happened to him. I do remember his boots spliting because Big Jim's feet were too big to fit in them.

Big Jim with the karate chop arm was the next. Had his camper, the Recue Rig, the Airplane and the crocodile capture set.

Evil Kenevil was next and then the scale diminished from there. I had a hand full of Buck Rogers figures and a whole lot of Micronauts. Yes I am of the age to have Star Wars figures, and I wanted them, but the price sticker was too steep for my parents and they didn't show up much in the Sears Warehouse sales. The Micronauts I bought with my own money.

My Hotwheels/Matchbox cars and Micronauts were what I played with most. Sadly none of them survived.

The 6-million dollar man with the bionic parts and see through eye. He had a trigger like thing in the middle of his back that you could push and it would make his bionic arm rise with a clicking sound.

Oh, and he had removable RED sneakers!

Mego Aquaman, Superman, and Spock were also in the early running.

Tough to recall. Probably a MEGO World's Greatest Super Hero. Maybe Fisher Price Adventure People.

But an early figure I remember clearly getting was the MEGO Comic Action Hero Spiderman. Still have it. My brother had the Hulk. Gonna blog about those two figures soon.

For me, either MEGO pocket heroes Batman and Robin, which I still have, or MEGO 8" Superman, Batman, and Robin, which I only still have Superman's costume. The first figure I actually remember receiving was Darth Vader on my 5th birthday.

I know I had a bunch of Weebles and such, but the 1st I remember loving was the 12" Kenner C3PO. Still have my original one. Always one of my favorite growing up.

And yes....many more toys than the other kids....I was very spoiled.

the first ones I truly remember are GI Joe Grunt, and Mego 3 3/4" Bo and Luke Duke.

I also remember the day I got my Man-E-Faces.

Probably the first one I had (I really dont count little people)-- was an Evil Kenevil With the Stunt Cycle (only had one figure and bike- but 3 of the plastic windy launcher things for some reason-- I know I shot him down the stairs more times than I can remember-- after that i think it was probably Darth Vader and Hoth Han Solo and then SW all the way.. My first GI Joe was Clutch with the VAMP Mark II.

I used to LOVE that Evil Kinevil Cycle set.

Was there ever anyone who had that thing and didn't launch it down the stairs?

And I was a vicious little snot and used to try and get my little brother to hold it while I pulled the cord out and pinch his fingers in wheel gear ...

Ah, memories....

I remember one christmas I got a Mego Batman, Robin, Joker, Penguin, Spiderman, Superman, Batvan (mobile command center, whatever the heck it was called) Batmobile and Spidermobile.

It was the best christmas ever.

Until STAR WARS came out.

But, the first action figure I got was actually a bunch of Evel Kneivel stuff that was my uncle's (he was only 6 years older than me). The "figure" was more of a bendy but it was still pretty awesome.

I remember getting a super Gobot, the futuristic car one, then the next year it was all Transformers. I specifically remember Megatron...

I'd say it was either Star Wars or G.I. Joe, I remember the figures, but I honestly don't remember who was first.
