From D. Martin, one of the admins over at Rebelscum :

Quote:
OK, here's the story... I went to the Victoria toy show a couple of weeks ago (the one I promoted on Rebelscum and CTR). A good friend lives there so it became an excuse to hang out for a few days. You know how it is before you go to a show, where discussions come up about the ultimate finds. We were talking the night before about finding a complete Humanoid and what we'd spend on one. Since I already have one, I only wanted booties, while my friend just wanted the figure with the cloak (not interested in the booties). We agreed that, if we found one, we'd split the price if it were $800 or less.

About 15 minutes after getting to the show, my friend lets out a little gasp as he pulls up a ziplock of crap vintage Star Wars figures. I see the same thing he does: The brown waffle fabric cloak. Both of us knew that even if it were just the cloak it was well worth the $20 price tag on the bag. I handed over the $20 and we quickly got the eff out of there. We found a little spot away from the crowd and opened the ziplock. There were nine loose Star Wars figures... and one complete Humanoid. The figure itself was wrapped up in hockey tape, so we weren't sure if it was intact, but the soft goods were in incredible shape (though still showing their age.)

Keeping up to our agreement, my pal gave me half the money and we split the Humanoid.

Best. Day. Ever.

Oh, how I hate him!

Peace,

Chip

I'm not even looking for that figure and I hate him.

I'd love to see a pictorial of how that all went down...

What's a Humanoid?

Not trying to be a smart-ass, I really don't know this one :-)

Mego Black Hole Humanoid from the early 80's Disney Movie.

Only released in Italy and some parts of Canada after the line had been canceled in the US.

Goes for about $900 loose/complete whenever they hit eBay, which is only a few times a year.

Peace,

Chip

WHOA!! That's how collecting should be, like treasure hunts.

I'm so jealous! I got VINCENT but OLD Bob eludes me. Thanks to Kubrick, thogh, I finally got one. The Humanoid I'm all but giving up on.

That's exactly what I wish for every time I go out looking!
Didn't the last one almost top $1,000 or was just over?

I didn't know what one was either.

That's quite a find.

So I have a "stupid question," only because I have never seen one or a good pic of one.
Is STARR a repaint of the Sentry Robot or is there an actual detail difference in the casting?

CCC.

Hey, just seeing this now, Chip. Wow, those are the one in a million finds that make going to shows and stuff worth it. What an amazing find. If that seller only knew...!
