I used to have some of the larger dolls (Only one I remember in particular was Batman).

I still have some of the regular action figures.....Batman, Robin, and Spiderman. Used to have Hulk, but his leg broke off and my mom threw him away.

Robin's cape broke off (It was made of hard plastic).......Spiderman is fine....The Batman figure I have is the version with the removable cape/head (You could pop his head off, and the cape is attached to his head).

I'm pretty sure I used to have a Batman which didn't have the pop-off feature, and that I had a Superman, but I guess my mom threw those away when I was a kid.

I uesed to have so much Mego stuff as a kid in the 70's that I put it all on display on 2 big book shleved and charged the neighborhood kids 25 cents to come see "The Batman Museum"...unfortunatly mom cleared ALL fo that stuff out when I got into Star Wars... So I'm SLOWLY trying to rebuy some of what I had.

I think currently I have:
Spiderman
Batman
Robin
Joker
Penguin
Riddler

Along with Custom Megos of:
Aquaman
The Atom
Bizarro

I haven't attemted to rebuy any of the vehicles or playsets yet.

The Mego Comic Action Heroes are the 3 3/4ish scale ones with the bent knees.
The Mego Pocket Heroes are the straight legs ones that came a few years later.

I really like the Comic Action Heroes. I have Aquaman, 2 Spidermen, Robin, and Superman. I regularly check eBAY for these suckers but they're not cheap.

I remember not long ago one guy auctioned off a MOC full set that he found in the stock room of some old 5 & 10. I think the auction went for over 4 grand.

This is something I've been wanting to get into but I'm deterred by the pricing. I don't plan to get all of them, just the characters I like.

Is eBay the only place to get these?

Straight legs. I might have had an Aquaman, too, but can't remember as I definitely don't have it now.

And I could've sworn I had a car for Spiderman, but maybe I'm thinking of something else as I'm not sure whether Mego made a Spiderman car or not.

Those megos were some of my favorite toys as a kid, along with Star Wars, and Stretch Armstrong & the green monster who was supposed to be Armstrong's enemy.

Nice thing about mego are there aren't really that many superhero figures to get and I can't think of a single one that sells for over $100 loose(maybe the Teen Titans but even they have come down in price) If you really wanted to get a set of these it wouldn't be too hard and a lot of them cost less than some new toys.

Ebay is pretty much the only place to get these, but there is usually lots of every character and there are deals to be had if you look.

Carded stuff, that's a different story.

I collect 'em, I love 'em.

Removable Mask Batman was my first foray into action figures and started me down the dark path I currently follow. Fortunately for my wallet I still own him.

A few years ago I had the means to pick up several Megos that I either had or didn't have from my childhood:

Removable Mask Batman (stirrups, type 1 body)
Batman (painted mask)
Robin
Superman
Spidey
Captain America
Mr. Fantastic
Thing (It's nappin' time!)
Invisible Girl
Human Torch
Lizard
Joker
Penguin
Riddler
Green Arrow
Hulk
Thor
Falcon
Iron Man
Catwoman
Batgirl
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Mr. Myx
Dracula
Wolfman

Plus I have a few customs:
Hobgoblin (made by myself)
Starman (Jack Knight) (ibid)
Lister from Red Dwarf (custom)
Year One Batman (Charlee Flatt)

If ever a large pile of money falls from the sky into my lap, I'm gonna buy boxed versions of the Batman fist-fighters. That box art is too cool!

I'd love to have a set of the FF at some point. Hopefully they're not too expensive. I remember when I was researching prices at one point, and the funny thing I came across was The Thing on a foreign card...it read "Chose."

:D

Peace,

Chip

I had a whole bunch of 'em when I was a kid in the '70s. I destroyed most playing with them. I managed to hold onto

Aquaman
Green Arrow
Kid Flash
Aqualad
Speedy

Yep, I'm with Scott on this one. Long time Mego collector here. Besides the Worlds Greatest Superheroes I really dig their monster line. Apes too. Good stuff.

You know, there's one question I have about Comic Action Heroes. Did the guys at MEGO sculpt their right arm and hand so that they look like they're jacking off intentionally as a joke or did it just not occur to them?

You know what I'm talking about:

You mean this?

It just didn't occur to them, it was meant as a hand that could hold things like bat ropes and magic lassos. CAH were only the second 3 3/4" line out of the gate so they're a bit functional.
