I can't even tell you how many hours I played with this thing when I was small. I had both the red vertibird copter set and the dreaded Rescue Ship.
I'm amazed that these stryofoam ships survived the tests of time. I can remember them being so fragile. Bring back memories Chip? Time to add a Vertibird to your list.

oh yeah, these were great! my family had a few of them years ago.

Had forgotten all about those! I clicked through thinking it was about Starbird (I think that's what it was called), but, yeah, that brought back some memories!

Speaking of Starbird, I almost won a minty boxed specimen a few weeks ago. Another blast from the past that I had forgotten all about.

I never had one of those, but it was always my favorite when visting a friend. It was our substitue for a Y-Wing... I don't get much vintage stuff, but that may be one I need to track down...
