AFX has a second Minimate design up:
http://shopafx.typepad.com/my_weblog/20 ... me-on.html
Looks like we're going to see a Champions box set. My guesses for the next two are Black Widow and Hercules. I'm just glad they're doing this before I tried to make a custom BW out of the Eva Mendez Spirit Minimate.
So these are the Marvel Minimates we're looking at this year:
Wave 25: New Cap, Red Skull, Iron Man, AIM Agent, Rulk, SKAR
Wave 26: Wolverine Movie Mates
Wave 27: the Ultimates
Wave 28: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Psylocke, Gambit, Deadpool, Skrull
Wolverine through the Ages Box Set
Wonder Man/ Union Jack TRU Exclusive set
Champions Box set
Don't think I'm forgetting anything....
EDIT: I forgot about the Heroes and Villains boxes! How did I do that? Thanks, TRDouble.

Thanks for posting all this. It's almost hard to keep track of the Marvel minimates (I really wish I could say the same for DC...why the heck can't DCD do 4 box sets a year?....at least?)

On some sad MiniMates news, it looks like the BSG minimates are on shaky ground. Waves 5, 6 and the Caprica boxed set are now "on hold" *sigh*

The Heroes & Villains Sets are also coming. The Villains set includes a classic green jumpsuit Red Skull! The rest are repeats (except maybe Wolverine?), but nicely improved, much like the second Daredevil was improved from the first release DD (we can thank DC Minimates for improving minimates in general).

I agree. I think they really raised the bar for the Marvel stuff. Makes it even more annoying that they stopped. I mean, seriously, not even a few box sets a year? Whatever.

Apparently they are still planning on getting these out somehow. They said at the NYCC panel that they will get all the Cylons into our hands. They also gave away a Spock figure at Toyfair, which would seem to contradict the death of Trek 'mates as well.

Well, in fairness this wasn't Diamond Select or Art Asylum's decision, it was DC Direct. It is really frustrating, though. What gets me is that they said last year that they sold well enough to justify continuing, but they weren't going to do any more. What the !@#$ does that mean? "You guys like them, and you bought them, but we're not making any more".
Box sets would be so easy to do, and would do so much for this line. They could finish off teams like the Justice League of America (Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Firestorm and Zatanna), the JSA (Green Lantern, Hourman, Dr. Mid Nite and Starman) or the Teen Titans (Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Changeling and Terra). Or they could do villain sets for Batman (Two-Face, Ras, Talia, and the Ventriloquist) or the Flash (Mirror Master, Captain Cold, Weather Wizard and Zoom). Or they could do events like 52 (Black Adam, Isis, Animal Man, Adam Strange) or Final Crisis (Libra, Barry Allen Flash, Orion, Black Lightning). It's just... arrgghh....
Great, now my day's ruined.....

AFI has released a teaser for their next design reveal on Monday-- the Black Widow. Definitely a Champions box. Hopefully, if the jumpsuit is done well, she can be used to make a custom Talia.

Fallen a little behind in checking out the Art Asylum site. Here's some Minimate stuff:
AskDST on Minimates from Feb 20th (biggest news is that they will probably not do Watchmen Minimates, dang):
http://www.artasylum.com/blog/2009/02/a ... /#more-533
Packaging for the Wolverine: Origins 'mates, including two TRU exclusives, Silver Fox and Agent Zero:
http://www.artasylum.com/gallery/wolver ... packaging/
And pics for a TRU "exclusive" wave, which is basically just six figures from the Good Guys and Bad Guys box sets, plus Wonder Man and Union Jack:
http://www.artasylum.com/gallery/toys-r-us-minimates/
No word on release dates. And AFX has released their image of Hercules, so yeah, Champions box set. Pretty cool. They also have a teaser saying that they may have EIGHT more exclusive 'mates coming up. Can you say Cylons, maybe?

I hope TRU stocks these a little better than the last minimates. I never saw the movie Stealth Iron Man set, so I will definitely attempt to order the Wonder Man Set from the website.
I am looking forward to that Champions Box Set too.

Those went bye bye when AA merged with DST I saw those back in either 05 or 06 and was looking forward to these and the classic BSG stuff. Got my classic BSG stuff, but without the Vipers and Raiders. It is definitely a shame that DCD passed on the Minimates. Something I loved about these, as opposed to the Marvel stuff was no chase/variant figures. I do like the new Marvel news though, looks like I'll have to start saving my pennies
