From those of you who missed out on the Star Trek: TOS figures from Art Asylum from around five years ago, Diamond is releasing them on new cards starting with Captain Kirk (yellow shirt) and Mr. Spock. They're listed at Big Bad Toy Store under the Star Trek/Diamond section. The sculpts are the same as the 2003 Art Asylum figures which are now pricey and scarce so this should be great news for some Trek collectors.

You can also find these at your local TRU. I saw both Kirk & Spock and TWOK/TMP 2 packs in great quantity, along with the phaser and DST Star Wars stuff

Hi fellow aliens,
Can you provide a link to those - (the original Kirk & co). I didn't go for them and I really regret it. I would buy them all in one shot today...
Thanks!

I was curious about this. I bought my first Diamond Select Star Trek figure (TNG Picard) recenlty and to my surprise it was much larger than the Art Asylum TOS figures. Are the new releases by diamond in the same scale as the Art Asylum or are they larger scale as the TNG figures?

They are the same molds so they are still smaller than the TNG releases...

Hey, Sallah! Nice to see you posting on here, man. I was thinking of starting a TNG collection but if the scale between them and the TOS figures is too great, I might pass. I was going to start with boxed Picard and Riker in their Command Chairs. Are they out of scale with TOS Kirk and Pike, as well?
Playmates did a TNG 6'' or so line near the end of its run but I'm guessing the TOS figures would tower over them, right?

Thanks dude!
Yeah, the scale isn't going to work on any of those:
That first is one of the larger playmates figures, second is an AA Kirk, and 3rd is a DST Picard. So no mixing lines unfortunately...

Dang...
That sucks big time. Bad enough that superheroes can't get a proper scale going between Marvel and DC. I was almost sure that Diamond would pull it off with Trek.
Thanks for the pic comparison, bro. Much appreciated!

It's weird, but I think the old Playmates likenesses were WAY better than the more recent Diamond stuff. Everyone looks off to me in the Diamonds.

Yeah, I never liked the hip articulation and mostly useless hands on the Playmates stuff, but the head sculpts were spot on. Shatner got a few good likenesses and they nailed James Cromwell in the above photo. Picard looks nothing like Patrick Stewart by comparison.

Awesome blog, Sallah! "Mirror, Mirror" is tied with "Errand of Mercy" as my favorite TOS episode of all time and the Mirror Enterprise just rocks. Love the Terran Empire insignia on this version. Even the die cut box packaging looks cool. I'm gonna have to start collecting these babies one of these days!

We know U.S.S. stands for United Space Ship, but
what does I.S.S. stand for? Imperial Space Ship??

I missed these the first time around, and started seeing them in TRU around the time of the new movie. I didn't even realize they were re-relases at first.
Distribution in my area is always a little funky, but am I right in thinking the single-card breakdown has been sort of like this?
Wave 1 - Kirk, Spock, Kirk (casual wear)
Wave 2 - Kirk (ceremonial dress), Spock (blue collar), McCoy
Wave 3 - Mirror Kirk, Mirror Spock, McCoy (blue collar), Kang
Am I missing anyone?

Does anyone know if the TOS two-packs are relatively the same as the original singles? Do they come with the same accessories, etc.? I tried to look them up on a few sites, but the information isn't very clear. I never went after any of these figures when they were released, but I've been on a Star Trek binge recently and I'd like to start collecting them.
