I thought I heard that the NYC International Toy Fair that is usually held in Febuary of every year was being changed to either October or November instead starting this year.

If so when is it being held and will there still be one in Febuary 06 in NY or will the next big toy event be SDCC 2006?

I think we need atleast 4 major toy shows/fairs a year to keep info pouring in on a regular basis.

1.The NYC ToyFair in November can herald the coming year's major product rollouts from the big toy companies.A non public event for retailers and press only.

2.A Wizard World Event in March to focus more on the comic and collectible market toys, also to unveil anything that wasn't ready for the NYC show.A fan friendly event.

3.The San Diego Comic Con(late June or early July)which has become a huge event to many companies to show us what we can expect for the rest of the year and the next year as well.A public event for fans and press alike.

4.And finally I believe Wizard World Boston(late Sept/early Oct) should become a smaller scaled final showcase for companies that want to showoff final product for the holiday shopping season and any surprises that companies may have for year's end.

It makes waiting for news much easier for us all.

The BIG Toy Fair is held every year in Feb, usually the 2nd to 3rd week. The buyers get in a day or so before the press. No public access.

For the last several years, there has also been a late Fall mini show - also buyers and press only - to showcase newer product.

Sometimes toy companies hold their own Fall events. Hasbro used to host one in Florida in August I think.

Toy Fair isn't held for us, it's held solely for retailers and other industry types. Any info we consumers get from it is an incidental concern of theirs.
