Although the scale of my collection is small in comparison I, too, have asked/been asked the same questions. Usually from my wife it comes like this: "When will this ever stop!?" Good question. Regarding the option of selling: Recently I sold a some things just to clear a few things out and raise a little cash for Comic Con. What a hassle! Try to find a box for a POTJ Star Wars B-Wing MIB! Then take the photos, upload them, research what other similiar items have sold for, create your listing, stress over it not going as high as you expect, stress over the 0 feedback bidder who wins, finally get paid, make the trip to the post office, and then not even get feedback. Hassle! I don't know what the solution is to our malady. My guess is its not that easy to quit. I've gone through phases where my interest has waned but I've always snapped back eventually. I was interested to read: The Superfly wrote: As I’m getting older, maybe I’m outgrowing it. Maybe my interests and focus are changing I have the feeling that the action figure collector in you will never be outgrown! Good luck with the new home!

You know how Humphrey Bogart slaps Peter Lorie around in the Maltese Falcon? Well, thats what you need. Some slapping around... I've been collecting stuff (remember you have "stuff." Your neighbor has "crap.") for longer than you've been alive. I've had those ho-hum blues and questioned myself. But, everybody collects something. Everybody. Oh, they may not admit its a hobby, but be it pens or action figures or stamps or shot glasses or typewriters (does anyone remember those?) or naughty french pictures, they collect them. I remember when we moved from the DC area to California I had 48 boxes of comics and about 15 boxes of toys. I marked them all "professional books" and didn't have to pay for the shipping... And that was in 1986. I have thinned the collection, giving a huge amount to my oldest son and now only have my Avengers, LSH and JLA/JSA/JLU comics and my toys, but I'll be damned if I'll get rid of them or sell them or give them away. Face it, you are buying and collecting the stuff because it means something to you. Not for wealth-building. Enjoy the fact that you can have the things you want. Be Scrooge McDuck and go swimming in your toy collection! And always remember, you ain't alone!

Thanks guys, the sentiments are much appreciated. I think the big move is making me re-evalute everything and this huge collection is one of the things that naturally comes up first. But I'm guessing once I get all moved in and start unpacking boxes, it will be all rainbows and unicorns again. Err I mean that figuratively. Cantina-Dan wrote: Usually from my wife it comes like this: "When will this ever stop!?" I get the "When will this ever stop!?" phrase all the time! Almost as good as the "what are you going to do with all this??". Glenn2000 wrote: Face it, you are buying and collecting the stuff because it means something to you. oh-so-true, my friend!

Oh man, I could tell you some tales about my wife bitching and moaning about my "stuff." If you want to ensure you don't get any for a month along with icy stares and lots' of "fix yourself something to eat."; the next time you get that "when will this stop" line just walk over to her closet and say: "Same time this does." You will initially get the deer in headlights looks followed by a red face and the look of evil you have come to dread... If you really want to end up on the couch for a week, toss in "At least my action figures don't cost as much as _________ (your shoes, your clothes, your make-up, your hair-stuff)" Works every time!
