has there been any word on wether corgi would get to reproduce the adam west batmobile? i asked corgi u.s.a. awhile back and they replyed as if they were tring to get the rights to do it as well as the movie batmobiles. i know my west batmobile is in dire need of an upgrade.

As far as I know, Corgi can only do the comic versions of Batmobiles - not the movies (rights are held by Mattel)

The rights to that design are tied up between George Barris (the customizer who built the car) Fox/Greenway and Warner/DC. No one, not even high end collectible manufacturers like the Danbury mint, has been able to get the parties involved to license the design since the original agreements were allowed to lapse. Danbury Mint had actually taken orders on their car, which had to be refunded. Back when Johnny Lightning was doing Batmobiles and reissuing the old Aurora kits, one of their executives was quoted as saying getting an agreement was simply impossible. For more general information on the topic, and to find a copy of the original contract between the three parties to build the Batmobile, visit http://www.1966batmobile.com/home.htmYou can find additional fun stuff and a copy of Danbury Mint's advertisement announcing the never produced high end model at http://www.javelinamx.com/Batmobile/

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, guys, but the corgi line will be over with the last release of cars:
1950's Killer Moth mobile 1960's Batmobile #3 1990's Batrocket 2000 Batmobile 4
After that, for 2007, there is a repaint line called the "Chassis Art Classics" that includes a repaint of one of the already issued corgi batmobiles and comes with a 4.00 figure based on the art on the bottom of the car. These might be packaged like the "silver" and "golden" age sets and have a higher price point than the regular cars (around $25-27)
The ones I know about that will come out are:
1940's Batmobile with Batman 1939 Coupe with Bob Kane Batman 1960's Catmobile with Catwoman 1950's Killer Moth mobile with Killer Moth
I'm sure there will be more to come.

Ah! here's the checklist. If the line is ending, then I need to figure out what vehicles I am missing and how many display cases I need to buy up in advance. I will try to get together a small pictorial on my nice, cheap display stands this weekend!

I only collected a few of these (a couple of the 1:18's and the cycles) but it's a shame this line is coming to an end, it was quality stuff, and I was certainly tempted to expand into collecting some of the smaller models too.
Guess we'll never see that Catcycle now either, which is a damn shame, I was looking forward to that.
