IDW's recent G.I. Joe relaunch didn't do much for me, so I gave up on the franchise after a couple of issues. It was too much of a departure from the Marvel and Devil's Due versions for my tastes.

So I was reading a couple of issues from Marvel's Transformers series a few months back and was wondering how IDW is doing with their current books. Are the characters similar to their G1 counterparts or the 1980's cartoon portrayals? Are the stories darker in tone or did they keep some of the humor found in the original comics?

Just wondering if any of these would be worth picking up. I haven't read a good Transformers comic in years and would appreciate some feedback from anyone who is into them at the moment.
