I'm one of those GL newbies that the old GL fans probably hate. I LOVE the Emotional Specturm stuff, especially the Yellow and Red Lanterns. So I figured a book with a character from each spectrum would be pretty cool.
But it wasn't.
I usually get the trades, though.

To be honest, there was nothing wrong with the idea of the emotional spectrum but the execution of it was sort of lame in some places. Then again stories like Agent Orange were fun! I'm an old school Green Lantern fan so I've always loved the yellow power ring, Green Lanterns and even the Star Sapphires, so making them one of the gang was fun too! If anyone should have their own book it should be Blue or Indigo, a color worth expanding on.

I'm a big fan of the new lanterns too. I think it makes perfect sense that they exist. The Indigo tribe seems pointless though. What do they do? And the Blue Lanterns need to be fleshed out.

Three months ago, I decided to try 12 of the new DCU comics. With month 3 done, I officially have:
dumped Catwoman Firestorm
left at the store after skimming Birds of Prey
considering dropping Mr. Terrific Static
unsure Flash Aquaman Blue Beetle
Leaving only the following on solid footing JLA JLI Stormwatch Teen Titans

What's you take on Titans?
I was a big fan of the Titans ever since the Wolf/Perez run. However, the New 52 character designs were a real turn off.
Is it a decent read?

They did some great stuff and always made the stories seem to naturally evolve out of the characters. Unfortunately, later versions forgot how important it was to have the stories be important to the characters. Shellhead wrote: However, the New 52 character designs were a real turn off. The designs are not what concerned me, but the potential changes to the characters I had liked for so long. My attachment to this team is from their run as Young Justice. I like Tim, Bart, Connor, and Cassie. So far the character development has been OK. Shellhead wrote: What's you take on Titans? Is it a decent read? Decent, yes. One of my disappointments with the new 52 in general is that they are taking months to set things up, to tell origins, to collect members of teams. Wolfman/Perez collected their team of Teen Titans in 1 issue. The JLA was presented as a team in their first appearance. It was fine to learn their background and origin later. I miss that. Best book IMO of those listed above is ... Stormwatch. My top pick

With the start of the new year, I wanted to revisit my buying habits again. So far I've been able to cut back pretty significantly, and buy most comics I want to read a month after they're released and have the price reduced. This will eventually save me 20-30 dollars a month and since I really have no one in my day to day life to discuss comics with, I'm not falling behind or being spoiled.
I wanted to give most comics at least 3 issues before I dropped them for good so based on that, here's what I've still got
Buying on release: Aquaman, Green Lantern, Justice League
Buying after a month: Action, Batgirl, Batman, Dark Knight, Detective, Flash, GL Corps, New Guardians, Huntress, Red Lanterns, Supergirl, Superman
Possibly dropping: Batman and Robin, JLI, Nightwing, Superboy, Teen Titans
Dropped: Catwoman, Firestorm, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman
Batgirl, Supergirl, and Red Lanterns might potentially move to the "buying on release day" category. Huntress will only be 6 issues and GL Corps and New Guardians might move to "possibly dropping".

I'm starting to waver on Catwoman. The last issue was very lackluster.
Nightwing is decent. Not super excited about I'm still in.
Justice League is good, but I'm a little nervous about what the team will be like post "jump" to current time.
Batgirl and Aquaman are awesome. Very happy with both of them.

Aquaman and Batgirl have been two of my favorite titles. Really liking Supergirl and Red Hood and the Outlaws as well.
A little disappointed in Green Arrow and The Flash.

Just curious, what did you not like about Batgirl?

I do like it, but I'm spending way too much money on comics lately and need to draw the line somewhere.

Gotcha, kinda like me with Marvel's endless new Avengers books (I'm looking at you, Avenging Spider-man).

The only Marvel title I currently get is Ghost Rider. But I also get all of the Star Wars, Planet Of The Apes & Warlord of Mars titles. Along with Game Of Thrones, Flash Gordon & G.I.Joe (only the series continued from the old Marvel series).
