Yup, straight out of the Toronto Fan Expo, DC comics has announced that there will be a Trinity of JL books with the launch of JL America. The team consists of Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Katana, Catwoman, Vibe, Stargirl, and the New Green Lantern. [you can read DC's official announcement here: http://www.dccomics.com/blog/2012/08/26 ... of-america ] Rumors abound as to what this means to the upcoming Trinity War storyline (the next massive DC crossover, or technically, I guess, the first DCnU massive crossover) and if there will be a "civil war" of sorts among the different JL factions and DC's new Trinity of Phantom Stranger, Pandora, and (insert other person's name I am forgetting here). Supposedly, Johns says this book will have a feel more in line with his JSA run, but it will play on the fact that all of these characters are more comfortable in the shadows than in the spotlight. What do you all think?

Justice League is becoming as bad as Marvel's Avengers with one hundred different ongoing series!

but, if they are done right, they can support multiple JL titles.
Back in the 90's we got JL/JLI and JL Europe, plus JL quarterly. Those eventually lead to JLA, JL Taskforce, and other off shoot titles.
Some were better than others. Some lasted longer than others. But the precedent is set.
I will try to go into this with the same neutral (ok, slightly biased against but trying to be neutral) stance I had when trying each of the New 52 books at launch.
I do like the character mix but already see where some of them won't be around for long.
Who knows, maybe this will turn out to be better than the "main" JL title is.

Interesting attempt of using the political implication of the Justice League of America name, but Katana & Catwoman? Blah. I'm just biding my time until DC returns to the pre-Heroes Rebor...I mean, pre-New52 continuity...

I think you'll be waiting for a long time, Superfly.
Plus I don't remember DC going back on many Crisis-like events in the past.

They may not necessarily need to "go back" on a "Crisis event" to return to the older DCU.
They just need a new crisis to over-write this one. Or they need to just step up and say this is all part of the mulitverse and Earth 49 or some such. Then they can keep these "new 52" for the fans that like them, and give us back the "classic" version for the older fans.
Pandora is the key ... there really isn't any other explanation for her being so prominent otherwise.
I actually like the idea behind this book. Subversive heroes. Political slant. Steve Trevor stepping in as a leader/liason... the potential is strong. How well it is handled ... that is the rub now isn't it?

Plus I don't remember DC going back on many Crisis-like events in the past. Well, the original Crisis was ultimately retconned out with the return of Barry Allen and the Multiverse. Zero Hour was too, along with Hypertime. The reboot that followed the Crisis was slowly undone over twenty years, returning many of the characters and history to Pre-Crisis history, the last pieces courtesy of Superboy Prime Continuity Punches. The biggest difference with the DCnU/New52 is how downright awful the reboot has been. Subpar writing has reduced many characters to superficial, arrogant caricatures with zero depth; terrible redesigns that are rendered differently by every artist, not to mention many look like castoffs from 1990s Image books; and poor editorial and lack of planning has resulted in laughable continuity errors and a confusing overall direction for the DC Universe. I hope I'm not waiting a long time, because I don't know how much longer DC can keep selling this terrible product.

Speak for yourself. I think Batgirl and Aquaman have never been better. Justice League has been underwhelming, however.

Your mileage may vary, but there is only one Batgirl and her name is Barbara Gordon. DC obviously agrees with me. I like Tim as Robin though. Not Red Robin. Can we at least agree Damien sucks?
