My Name is Jason. I've been collecting figures for as long as I can remember. I was never the type to keep them in the box... although I do have a small collection of X-Men figures still wrapped up. I played with mine, and now that I'm a grown-up my son plays with them. I collect figures for him now, used and new. I prefer the figures from the 80's and 90's over everything else. He-Man, Secret Wars, X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, Z-Bots, and Battle Beasts are and where my favorites. I never could get into GI Joes or Star Wars. I always had a problem with figures that didn't size up accordingly with my favorite ones.
Anyway... Good to be on the site. Action figures are a passion of mine and I'm excited to see what this site has to offer.

Welcome to AFi Jason. I love that you are able to pass your love of action figures down to your son.

It was hard to part with them, and some have been broken (which killed me), but I'm glad I can share a huge piece of my childhood with him. He's so proud of his toys and he brags that they used to be mine. I suggest it to any father.

My kid has ended up with all my Transformers! Any superhero figures I buy I buy for him or the wife! My greatest day as a Father was when he told me he wanted his own TARDIS for his Marvel and DC characters. Brought a tear to my eye!
Although are you stern on how he takes care of his toys?

At first I was. For a 4 fear old he was excellent at it if you ask me, and now that he's six I've backed off completely. I do take the normal parental stance on "take care of your things are you won't get more," but I've never had to act on it. Believe me... when the first couple guys broke, I was in a rage and almost wanted to take back the toys until he was older. I had to remember that they toys had been played with for 10 years or more before he'd gotten a hold of them.
What I love now is that Netflix has all the old cartoons on Watch Instantly that I used to watch as a kid. My son watches X-Men and says, "I HAVE THAT GUY!"

Always glad to have another Papa in the group.
My son is inheriting my toys as well and starting collections of his very own now as well.
Looking forward to what you have to share.

I bought my kid the Nick Fury for Marvel Universe when it was released! $100.00 on Ebay after shipping because we missed the promotion. I'm all about my kid having the coolest toys on the playground. It's an Ego thing! That's me playing Arnald in Jingle All the Way! But when Fury showed up there were some ground rules: No in the tub no outside he goes back in the box when done no to school
Things like that! The kid has almost every Transformer from Armada and up, given those prices he could probably buy his first car when he's of age in 7 more years to drive!

My son has almost every toy biz X-Men figure.
Aside from that he has every nerf n-strike and n-force weapon out. I spoil him, but he takes care of his things so I never worry about it. Chances are he'll pass down the same toys to his kid one day the way he is.
