BATWOMAN Character Breakdown And Details On When We'll See Her Debut In The ARROWVERSE Crossover

We found out yesterday that Batwoman would be getting her own series after she debuts in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event, and now we know which episodes we'll see her in.

Following on from the news that Batwoman will be getting her own series, we have some new details on the character, what The CW is looking for in an actress to play her, and when we can expect to see her debut.

Firstly, TV Line has heard that an out lesbian actress of open ethnicity age 25 to 29 is being sought for the role - although neither The CW or Warner Bros. has confirmed this.

Next, That Hashtag Show has come across a detailed character breakdown, which will give fans a much better idea of what to expect from this small-screen take on Kate Kane:

"Kate is fully aware of how bad-ass she is whenever she enters a room, even though she prefers to put a smile on your face. Young Ms. Kane is physically and intellectually confident while being a woman who is proud to be openly gay. However, Kate still deals with her inner demons that go back to her history with her dad. Their relationship is quite complicated as she struggles to get praise from him. She once aspired to have a successful military career, but those dreams sadly came to an end as she was kicked out of West Point once she came out of the closet. But that didn’t stop her from becoming the crime-fighting vigilante known as Batwoman.

Striking fear into the criminals she fights, Kate is someone who must also fight the complications of living a double life, both as a citizen and hero of Gotham. While she has her shield up when fighting criminals, she lets herself be vulnerable when dating women."

The site has also revealed that Kane will appear in the ninth episodes of Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash during the big crossover event. For unknown reasons, Legends of Tomorrow is being excluded from this year's crossover, which is set to air in December.

The Batwoman spin-off will be written by Caroline Dries, who is also executive producing alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE Star Henry Cavill Reveals Which Villain He Wants To See In MAN OF STEEL 2

Justice League star Henry Cavill is currently doing the rounds to promote Mission: Impossible - Fallout and the actor has now revealed which comic book villain he wants Superman to square off with next...

Josh Wilding | 7/18/2018 | Source: Fandom

There has to be at least a slim chance that Henry Cavill will appear at Comic-Con this weekend to make Man of Steel 2 official, especially as comic book fans have made it clear to Warner Bros. that they're anxious to see more of Superman on the big screen. We've been waiting since the first movie was released in 2013 for another installment and Henry Cavill has a lot of big ideas about the sequel.

As of right now, it has neither a writer nor director but who knows what's happening behind the scenes at Warner Bros. Regardless, the Mission: Impossible - Fallout star knows who he wants as the lead villain!

"I think a great villain would be Brainiac, that'd be a good villain to play against," he revealed before elaborating on why he thinks he would be a good pick for Man of Steel 2. "Brainiac's a big threat. There's a lot of fun. There's a lot of storylines to him." There's no denying that and it's fair to say that the big screen potential of the character is huge.

Amber Tamblyn Joins Cast of Y: The Last Man TV Pilot

By ComingSoon

July 18, 2018

Following the announcement last week of the cast for FX’s Y, based on the comic book series Y: The Last Man, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Amber Tamblyn (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, 127 Hours) has also joined the cast. She will play Mariette Callows, the daughter of the president of the United States. She’s described as “someone who has been groomed for a career in politics and to uphold her father’s conservative values.”

Tamblyn joins a cast that includes Barry Koeoghan (Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) in the lead role of Yorick Brown plus Diane Lane (Man of Steel, Under the Tuscan Sun) as Senator Jennifer Brown (Yorick’s mother), Imogen Poots (Green Room) as Hero Brown (Yorick’s sister), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) as Agent 355, Juliana Canfield (Succession) as Beth (Yorick’s love interest) and Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete) as Nora. FX has also confirmed that instead of using the full name from the comic, the television series will simply be titled Y.

Melina Matsoukas (Insecure, Master of None, Beyonce: Formation) will direct the pilot, which will be produced by FX Productions. Michael Green (American Gods, Blade Runner 2049, Logan) and Aida Mashaka Croal (Luke Cage, Turn) will serve as co-showrunners and will executive produce along with Matsoukas, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force (American Crime Story, Pose, The Hunger Games) and Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Marvel’s Runaways, Saga), who have been working together to develop the series.

In the series, all of the men are dead. But one. Based on the DC comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man traverses a world of women — exploring gender, race, class and survival. Y: The Last Man is a 60-issue science fiction comic book series published beginning in 2002. It received three Eisner Awards, and received the first Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story for Y: The Last Man, Volume 10.

JAMES GUNN Teases SONY PICTURES Announcement at SDCC

By Chris Arrant, Editor July 18, 2018 10:59am ET

Image

Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn is teasing his involvement in Sony Pictures' Hall H panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego. Take a look:

Image

That is the day, time, and location of Sony's SDCC panel - one which the studio has not released any information about.

While its possible Gunn could be involved in one of Sony's Spider-Verse related movies, the symbol in the background of Gunn's teaser is very similar to one used in the manga Berserk by Kentaro Miura. In the manga (and various anime adaptations), the symbol - 'the Brand of Sacrifice' - is branded on the lead character Guts, as well as others. The manga has been adapted twice in anime for television and once as a series of animated films.

Image

Gunn recently finished the first draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 script for an intended 2020 theatrical release. That work might preclude him from directing another film in the next two years, but given Gunn has recently begun expanding his resume with to write and produce films for others - like 2016's The Belko Experiment - this could be something he would be involved with in that capacity.

From ComicBookMovie:

After Being Dropped From BIRDS OF PREY, It Sounds Like The Penguin Will Indeed Appear In THE BATMAN

We'd heard rumblings that Oswald Cobblepot might be the lead villain of the Harley Quinn led Birds of Prey movie but it now appears as if plans have changed and he'll be appearing in The Batman instead...

Josh Wilding | 7/18/2018

Image

Earlier this week, we finally got some news on the roster of heroes (and villains) we'll see in Birds of Prey. It's previously been reported that the team would be squaring off with the Batman villain The Penguin but Umberto Gonzalez now claims that he's been axed from the script. That's a shame but on the plus side, he heavily implies that we'll actually see Oswald Cobblepot appear in The Batman!

That makes sense as he's also been rumored to appear there and it makes sense Warner Bros. would give Matt Reeves his pick of iconic bad guys in his planned (and long overdue) DC Comics adaptation.

This should, of course, be taken with a pinch of salt for now but The Penguin's return to the big screen is long overdue regardless of whether it's going to happen in Birds of Prey or The Batman. There have been countless reports about which beloved bad guys will be incorporated into the Caped Crusader's corner of the DCEU and Black Mask is one name that's regularly been mentioned for Birds of Prey.
