Just noticed this thread. It sounds like if I ever have the time and money to actually go to SDCC that it will be pretty much impossible to do so.

Not until they increase the size of the venue, anyway. I firmly believe SDCC has outgrown San Diego. Put it in LA or LV and you could accomodate double the numbers. Easily. Just in the limited time frame I went (2002, 2004-2009), I noticed it getting pretty crazy around 2006 and "Oh my god, it's taken me 5 minutes to cross two aisles" crazy during my last year there. I'll miss going, but the crowds, traffic, and hotel prices were really starting to wear me down. That's why I decided to take 2010 off after 6 straight years. But, sadly, this is the second year in a row I've been locked out. Still, even with the crazy eBay prices for post-Con exclusives, I'll probably still save a lot of money.

I think it's at the point now where even if you moved it to a place that could handle twice the number of people, the badges would still sell out in one day. The demand is just way higher than the supply.

Say what you will about San Diego but it is a beautiful city and with the trolley system it eliminates having to rent a car and even worry about parking. The hotel I was able to get last year was in Old Town and low and behold it wasn't on the shuttle route. Luckily for me I was able to get a week long trolley pass and I rode all weekend absolutely free. Yes the hotels snoog you on cost but that's ot the Con's fault. Especially not the city of San Diego since they are the ones who basically threatened hotel owners who raise their prices. It still happens but atleast they attempt to control it.
And as far as accomodating double the people... I feel with double the people it would be too ridiculous to actually do anything but walk around while there. You think 3 hours lines for Hall H are bad now? Imagine 250k people trying to fight for panel space. Would get real ugly.. really quickly.
Now my rant is over atleast Comic Con is still affordable ticket wise. If they wanted to limit attendance they would put a $500+ price tage for attendance like E3 does. Food for thought.

I gave up on Hall H in 2008. It's amazing how much more fun you can have there once you give that single venue up. Of course, clearing Hall H after each presentation (or at least every two hours) would go a long way towards having more people see the "cool" stuff.

Maybe they should just stream the panels and then people everywhere could watch.

DC does post all of their panels at SDCC and NYC (but not of the other cons unfortunately) as podcasts usually a day or so after the event actually happens.
I download them all to my iPod and listen to them in the car as I commute back and forth each day.

Of course, clearing Hall H after each presentation (or at least every two hours) would go a long way towards having more people see the "cool" stuff. It's all about timing really. There's times of the day where you can walk freely then there's days like last years Spielberg appearance where there's a 5 hour line. I lucked up and got into every panel I wanted to last year. Longest line was the Fox Panel which was 2 hrs. I also made it into ball room 20. Like I said you really have to pick your spots though. If there's a boring panel 30 min - 1hr before the panel you want to see, chances are you can grab a seat during said panel and wait for what you want to watch. And as far as streaming all the panels.. I'm fine with that the day/week/month after but if they did that what's the fun in waiting to see the panel in person? It's all a part of the experience. One in which really words don't describe unless you have actually experienced it. Just my opinion though.

Stream it live for the thousands of people who have no chance of ever being there.

Congrats man!! Did they send you the link for the hotel registration yet? Make sure to get in early if you plan on staying in a hotel out there. I can PM you the link if you didn't get it. Registration for the hotels is Saturday I believe.
