About Power Rangers

Over the past fifteen years, the Power Rangers have been on Earth, in space, on the moon, under water, traveling through time, in the jungle and anywhere evil lurks. They’ve battled Rita Repulsa, Divatox, Master Org, Dark Spector, Toxica, Jindrax and many more evil-doers – villains who have been shrunk to miniatures, tossed in jail, reduced to ooze or banished. Over time, the brand has maintained its core themes of teamwork, honesty, loyalty, courage and above all, the victory of good over evil. people rail on this show, but how can you not give it props.

They put robots, dinosaurs, ninjas and superheroes all in the same show. All cool stuff. How could kids of a certain age NOT like it. 15 years is proof. I don't watch it anymore, but its staying power is worthy of acknoweldgement.

My children never did really like the show or the toys. They always have referred to it as 'the show that ripped off Voltron'.

I fail to see how 15 years of Power Rangers can outsell 30+ years of Star Wars or 43+ years of GI Joe.

Peace,

Chip

It almost makes you buy all that hype about children being the largest buying audience for action figures. Imagine that.

Seriously, as gigantically massive as both Star Wars and GI Joe are, I really dont remember either of them having as much buzz surrounding them (as far as toys go) as the Power Rangers did back in 95-96. That christmas season was insane, I remember the Power Rangers figure shortage was on the news constantly and my local newspaper had pages of "for sale" ads dedicated to the toys.

I dont think GI Joe has really been big with the kids since the early 90s. They've always been around but when you think about the last 15 years...its mostly collector driven. Which, as we all know, cant compete with a popular childrens show. Which is another thing...Power Rangers has been on the air, non-stop new episodes for 15 years. Every day, I believe.

Star Wars has always been a collectors line (at least since the relaunch). Its huge in our eyes but that doesnt really mean much.

I dont know if Power Rangers is the biggest selling action figure brand of all time, but it doesnt take much brain power to imagine how it could be.

I think Power Rangers has been in the top 5 selling licensed toys every single year.

Easily in the top ten.
