Workin’ on MLK day bringing you another fine episode of the ‘Geek Shall Inherit’ podcast. Episode 006 is now live here and on itunes for your listening pleasure. I called this the “plug episode” as Jason accuses me of plugging a lot of things during the recording, but it’s really just the debut of our new feature “Things We Are Excited About”

In this episode:

* Jason talks about the upcoming Complete James Bond Blu-Ray collection
* Daniel and Jason give you their picks on who should perform the 50th Anniversary James Bond theme.
* Daniel (and Siri) give you the details on “An Evening With Adam West.”
* Daniel is excited about the return of Valiant Comics.
* Daniel gives you the details on Season 2 of SyFy’s Face-Off.
* In light of the newly announced Masters of the Universe Classics schedule delays from Mattel Jason and Daniel give you some insights into what can go wrong with product and dealing with factories.
* And More!

I wish it was a live show, so I could call in with obnoxiously juvenile questions...

I really want to be excited, but somehow I got a feeling this is going to be a huge letdown of epic proportions. Vailaint was lightning in a bottle when it was good and I just don't see how they can resurect it. Might be all the epic fails at trying already that is making me see it that way, but I am very tepid about the return reguardless of that.

Just wanna weight in on the Mattel delay issue. A 18 month delay in a Trek product is a bummer. But then it finally comes out and you buy it and all is well. You didn't subscribe to 12 months of a trek product however and that is a part of the fan outcry. Mattel asks a real lot of us as consumers to opt in to buy sight unseen whatever they come up every month for a year. In return, we expect things to run smoothly. A snag in production was bound to happen, yes. However, we don't expect to get charged during the delay. I've got a $77 dollar charge dated December 21st and nothing to show for it. Big Bad Toy Store? They don't charge until the pre-ordered item is ready to go out. That's on Digital River which is another huge component of the Mattel backlash. I had to call three times over a span of 2 weeks one time to get DR to stop attempting to charge an expired credit card (which they don't give the option to delete) and charge my current Visa which was listed as default on their site. If you travel these boards and He-Man.org, you'll see plenty of horror stories like my own. Packages shipped to old addresses, double charges on orders. And just this week, we got another post from Toyguru saying they're working so hard to fix these issues. The problem is I've seen this post at least 3 times since the inception.

It's when all the issues add up, that's when people get frustrated. From the DC sub ransom, to the lack of promotion for JLU product (or the off site poll to save the final figures), to the maddening website issues. It looks like a company that doesn't know what it's doing.
