One was won by a guy in my Star Wars group..

Thing is he only entered because another of the guys in my group gave him some points for one entry since he was waiting in line with him at the con.. The guy who gave him the points was a little aggravated..

I offered him 350 for it-- since he didn't collect anything other than Star Wars, but he ended up listing it on ebay as well.. A little more pissed that he never even brought it to a meeting to let a few us see it...

Are they going to start doing comic figures in the multiverse line?

That is the hope . . . although they'll probably be New 52 versions.

I'd rather have DC Comics New 52 versions rather than all of those Video Game figures. If Wave 3 is based on the Infinite Crisis video game I'll just have to say NO.

BUT WAIT!
There is one video game that I would LOVE to have 3.75"-4" figures of, DC UNIVERSE ONLINE!
1) The characters are based on their classic DC Universe look and not New 52.
2) DC Infinite Heroes was based on Jim Lee's character art for DC UNIVERSE ONLINE, only the game was delayed longer than the toy line. If Mattel were to relaunch DC Infinite Heroes for the DC Universe Online game, I would be thrilled.

I disagree here. Relaunch would mean suffering through all of the figures we already have before getting to any new releases. The only exception being if they did those figures with the updated articulation. Better to pick up where they left off. I wouldn't even mind if they renamed it.

CCC.

Of course Mattel isn't that smart, AND I DARE SCOTT TO PROVE ME WRONG!

Of course there would be changes.
1) Rename the toy line DC Comics Multiverse: DC Comics Onllne
2) Add DCUC style hip and waist articulation
3) Add thicker arms with elbow joints on the female characters.
4) Include some of the DC main characters in the first wave; Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Joker, Lex Luthor, Circe
5) Also include characters in the first wave that have not been released in DCIH. Bane, Mera, Donna Troy, Captain Cold, Harley Quinn, Hawkgirl, Batgirl, Oracle
6) Add in game characters: Circe's Beatiamorphs, Atlanteans, Henchmen, Security Guards, etc.
I could go on with more but I'll stop here.

Dude, you bag on Scott way too much. He's just a small cog in the machine. Plus he's not even in charge of the retail DC lines anymore.

Yeah but he is still the face of DC.

No, he's pretty much the face of MOTUC these days.

I think Scott gets a lot of crap for stuff that's not really his fault.

Thats cause his is the only name/face at Mattel anyone knows. Everyone else there hides behind anonymity.

Gee, if they really are #1 and doing such a bang up job, I wonder why?

Because Barbie and Hot Wheels sell orders of magnitude better than action figures like DCUC.

That's why they're number one.

So then why bother buying a superhero license just to deliberately screw it up?

I don't know, I just never believed the hype that DC and action figures were small drops in the bucket. I know I am not familiar with Hot Wheels collectoring but I honestly have never seen anyone in all my years of collecting hunting through the car aisles. DC was a decent money maker for them, they just blew it with price-increases and poor choices. Scott focused all his attention to making MOTUC great while giving sub-par effort into the DC realm.

Scott is just one of the people involved with the blundering of DC products at Mattel, too many different lines, too many issues, too many price increase, there is always an issue.....as much as I love the line I am happy it is gone.

These arguments really start to feel like "it wasn't the ideal line that I WANTED, therefore they screwed it all up".

I just don't agree.

I really like what Mattel has tried to do. Not everything has been successful, and yes, I wish that there were some things that were handled differently along the way, but overall .... I'm happy with how my DC collection has grown.

I bought JLU and was very pleased with the end result.
I bought DCIH and was very pleased with the end result.
I bought DCUC (and all its offshoots) and was very pleased with the end result.
I bought Action League and was very pleased with the end result.

I've bought DC Barbies.
I've bought DC Hot Wheels.

I'm buying Total Heroes and am very happy with the figures' construction and price point. Let's see where it goes.
I've bought 2 Multiverse figures so far. I'm happy with those but if the line doesn't go "comic-centric" then it isn't for me and I'll most likely be very selective in what I buy.

Do I wish some of those lines were continuing today? Absolutely.
Do I think that they could've been handled better? In some aspects yes.

But we are talking about a small percentage of output from a very major corporation. To be honest, I'm surprised we've gotten as much product as we have.

And it really isn't fair to use MOTUC as a barometer for DC either. MOTUC is a wholly owned, in-house concept. DC is a LICENSE. License bring more overhead, less profit, more "hands in the pot", etc. It really is an apples and oranges comparison.

Yes, Mattel is #1 because of Barbie, Hot Wheels (and if you've never seen a Hot Wheels horde in action you are very lucky), and board games. They also own Fisher Price, most likely #1 in Pre-School toy sales as well. Everything else, including DC and MOTUC, are just drops in the bucket.

I think we, collectively, need to take a step back, breathe deep, and enjoy what we actually have gotten rather than just slam everything as it is made public simply because it isn't specifically catered to us personally.

... and just because Scott is the only "face" we have at Mattel does not mean that he has to be the Target of every attack.
