lol I didn't even notice at first glance that Nightwing had a cape! Really weird! Yeah it's really bizarre that most of their Robin figures never had capes.

Cape notwithstanding, I like the styling of Nightwing's hair on that figure. It's more older Dick Grayson than the 'standard Robin' hair the other Nightwing figures have. Speaking of which, we managed to acquire nearly all the TTG sets over Christmas and I think it's such a pity that the Robin and Red Robin figures are just repaints of each other. It would have been much more fun for Red Robin to have the swept down 'moody' hair he has when he appears on the cartoon.

Hi, guys!

Don't know if this is relevant, but, I found this at south Texas Targets:

Image

It's the "Battle Batcave". I guess it's for that time when you need to go all David Fincher on your DC Fight Club figures.

Never seen it before and probably missed it here in the forum.

-----------------------------------------------------

At the last KMart in south Texas I found these two sets. I'm guessing they're KMart exclusives. And probably not that new, but they look cool. (haven't taken a pic of them, so found these images online)

And also, at northern Mexico Wal Marts they've been selling some blind bags DC figures in this kind of packaging:

So far they're the only ones I've found from this series.

P.S.: Found the DC Blind Bags series 3 at South Texas Walgreens. There were lots of them.

I've seen figures in that sort of packaging at Walgreens before. I wonder if this new assortment exists because that particular blind bag wave was so hard to get?

Picked up the new cyborg Superman, Flash, Black Flash and Cyborg with Robo Dog pack today at Wal-Mart. Target is stock full of the Battle Batcave but no other new product.

Hi, everyone.

I don't know if you've already covered this, but earlier today I found myself thinking: DC is Warner... and Harry Potter is Warner... Wouldn't it be grand if we got a Harry Potter Imaginext line?

The possibilities are endless. There are so many characters and so many options for sets. I guess vehicles-wise they'd have to design new concepts for the line, which I don't see the franchise as a whole allowing it...

..But if the stars were to align some day, I'd pretty much be up for it.

There'd be so many Harry variants, and they could refreshen the line every now and then with each of the books titles.

I wonder what has stopped Imaginext / Fisher Price in general from touching the Harry Potter property as a whole...?

I think that the problem is that Harry Potter doesn't really appeal to the preschool crowd. The films may have been popular with "new parents" at this point and they may run on television all the time but there isn't much in those films that would hold the attention of a preschooler. Most of my friends' kids are grown (or nearly there) now and I remember that when they were in that toddler-to-kindergarten range none of them had any interest in watching anything live-action unless it was something seriously bright, colorful, musical and/or full of Muppet-type characters. Where as the Wizarding World tends to be dark, drab, slow moving and somewhat scary. I'll even argue that it doesn't even appeal to older kids, at least not when it comes to toys. Mattel gave up with the third movie, was it?... NECA did some adult collectibles and there were some Euro only figures which were really nice but that line seemed to have help bankrupt the company that made them. Lego is really the only toy company that had any real success with the Harry Potter license *but* Lego skews a lot older than Imaginext and even most traditional action figure lines. I know that DC skews older (especially with a lot of the recent character choices) but they've also got a long history of animated product that skews very young in addition to everything else they turn out.

That said, looking at the images you posted and some of the ideas you suggested made me think not of Harry Potter but why hasn't there been a Wizard of Oz line in Imaginext?... Bright, colorful, musical, fantastical characters everything there seems to check off what would make for good (and popular) toys.

You're right about the Harry Potter franchise being not that much appealing to younger children.

Although I'd still love to see IMAGINEXT try it.

After all, if they were to make HarryPotter/IMAGINEXT figures, they could design the whole toy line as they see fit, to make it more appealing to younger kids.

You know: brighter colors for the Hogwart houses, cute-like fantastical creatures, fun-looking Voldemort and Death Eater figures, etc.
Staying away from a dark color palette.

They're already doing it with their Egypt-Mummy and Yeti lines.

Picked up the Teen Titans Go Robin with Batmobile today at Target. Still passed on the Battle Batcave. Thinking of waiting for it to go on sale, just wish it would have been more like the original Battle Arena that had sound effects, might have been a no brainer to purchase at that point.

Didn't pick any of them up but found blind bags 9 at Kroger tonight. The Grim Reaper is pretty tempting...

I wanted to get them, but they were pretty banged up, so I hope to catch them again soon.
