Remember when the GB II set was first shown, and there was much ado about whether or not the Santa hats would be permanently affixed? Mattel assured us the hats would be removable.
I picked up the set today at TRU in Allen, TX. The good news: Mattel kept its word, and the hats are not attached. They're packaged separately below the figures in the box. The bad news: The hats don't fit at all. They're way to small too fit any of the GBs' noggins. Unless you glue them in place (ruining the hat, and possibly the figure), the Santa hats are totally useless.
Another bunt by Mattel!
C.

Ah! I was worried about that being the case. *sigh* I am still on the fence about this set. I have a $10 Off $50 TRU Coupon, but I think I will save it for the new Marvel Legends Two Packs.
And I am starting an Unofficial Ghostbusters Thread right now!

I couldn't care less about the Santa hats, and I think it's silly for anyone to pass up this set simply because the hats don't fit. The hats were just a gimmick accessory to market this as a holiday-themed set. The only reason I (and probably most people) are buying this set, is to get the 4 Ghostbusters in their GB2 dark grey jumpsuits.

The point is quality control. C.

I was in Allen yesterday too and grabbed one of the packs. I really like the new Venkman head sculpt.

I don't have the set but I have seen pics of the set on Ebay with them wearing the hats so some must fit.
Doesn't matter to me though but it's a big mess up for Mattel. Going to pick up this set when I see it for sure even though I wish it was the GB1 uniforms.

I wasn't expecting it to be released quite this early. How much was the set, Casimir? Trying to decide if I want to get it for someone as a gift for Xmas.

Some hats fit and some don't.
Mattel's reason?
Logistics!
Peace,
Chip

The price is a bit high for some repaints, but it is fantastic compared to MattCollector! Nice to see any part of this line actually hitting retail though. I'll probably pick it up after the price drops a bit, if I can still find it.

Where are you guys getting the $10 off $50 purchase coupon? I'm signed up for TRU Rewards, and I don't think I received that coupon in my email.
