Hahaha, whoops. It seems there is a need for some clarification on my part. I posted a couple months back about the old 'JLU paint rub disease' and how it always seemed to target the most valuable figures, Commander Steel being one of them (armored Lex being the other horrible/horrifying example). He got it pretty bad, and right on his star chest insignia. I had planned on fixing him myself. But a couple months back, after I got caught up on new figures, I went on sort of an ebay bender and rebought both of those dudes. ...so, yeah. I have an extra Commander Steel, but he's somewhat busted up. He also had the misfortune of having a really crappy paint ap to start with. But you guys are right. If someone still really wants him, I'd be willing to bestow him to a fellow AFI member in need. And it looks like I may have a taker already.

I have a few figures I've been planning on hacking up that if people knew who they were some of them would probably flip out too lol. Whenever I pull that knife out I always think once I start there is no turning back. Thank goodness for guys like BatStew and Spy Magician with their head-cast and all.

Go check out the Custom Justice forums and you'll find dozens of customizers who are as good or better than official figures. I can personally recommend Glassman and Stew.

I was going to mention Stew, but there are at least 2 Stews on here and I wanted to make sure I got the right one, so I left it.

In JLU scale-Angel and Casimir. CCC. I do make extras of my customs from time to time because people started asking me for them, but I'm not really in it as a business. That's probably why I think most of the customizers around here are good, but are sometimes a bit pricey. Then again, I'm not rich, so I can't spare the money if I can eventually make it myself. $40 a commission is what most customizers here ask for, of the ones already mentioned, and some charge even $60. grtwhitecustoms charges $20-25, but he likes to take his time, so it could take four, or more months before you get them. I had him make me some customs to save me some time, but I have no patience for waiting half a year. So much for saving time on my list of wants. I also like to trade my customs for ones I don't have yet. Good luck, and happy hunting.

Honestly, I wish people would speak for themselves. Or at the very least watch their wording more carefully. SOME customizers charge $40, but very few charge $60 unless it's a very large or very complicated piece. Yes, there are those that do but they're the exception in my experience and not the norm. Shameless plug - check out the front page of Stew's (batstew here at AFI) page. Several of us have gotten together to try to help fill the gaps in your collections. LINK Is it the cheapest way to go? Absolutely not. But think about it. For me, even the easiest customs take 2-3 hours. Assembly, priming, painting at the LEAST. That's family time I'm losing, so I don't see what's wrong asking to be compensated for it. No offense, but I'd like to come out of it at minimum wage at least lol.

Honestly, I was being kind. Except for grtwhitecustoms, I haven't found any customizers under $40 unless it's unpainted and maybe some assembly required. 50% of the six I talked to, wanted $60-50 for a painted normal sized figure, Batstew being one of them. I didn't ask about large figures, so I don't know their prices. If you know of good customizers who charge less, by all means point them out to me. I'd rather have them made for me and spend less time having to make them myself. I know all too well, what goes in to making them and I never charged that much for mine. Then again, I don't do many commissions. I mostly just make extras of what I've made for myself.

Lets not forget that not everyone has the same amounts of free time, extra figures and supplies. We don't all use the same paints or methods. And we don't all turn out the same quality of figures. Just let someone charge what they charge and if you don't like the price or their work, then move on.

What he said. That's exactly why I'm still out there looking. Quality and paint application does make the difference in prices and is worth a little more. Maybe I'm not charging enough then? As for extra supplies, if it will cut down on the prices, I've given them the raw material to work with in the past. Heck, I've even started the custom for them in some cases.
