Because the character wore that modern costume for all of 13 months, and that was chosen over the look he had for 50 years. Complete and utter bull$#!% decision just to appease Johns. Wasted choice of a figure. I guess I still need a comparison shot of the two costumes. Other than making him no longer fat and balding, which I thought was an improvement, I didn't really notice that the costume was off that much.

The other question I always have when someone says they want a 'better' or 'alternate' version of a character is, "How much do you want that character remade? More than getting a brand new character?"
I personally think that the Aquaman in wave 7, the Batman in wave 15, all of wave 17, the Hawkman in wave 19 and the Green Arrow, Flash, and Sinestro in wave 20 should all have been replaced by a different character.
Instead of variants, we could have gotten 12 additional characters.

Hell yeah. More DCUC Rogues! I'll buy THREE of every character mentioned on this thread. Modern AND Classic. I can't get enough of the Flash Rogues!

Wave 19 Hawkman is a new character And while I understand the need to add variations of A-listers, making them lame Lanterns is not the way to go about it. And considering Mattel's track record of new figures, I'd take classic Capt Boomerang over anymore Rainbow Lanterns, DCnU, or Flashpoint characters

Mattel definitely needs to make some Flash Rogues. I don't know about making mirror master since Dc Direct already made one, so I would say to give a chance to villains that have not been made yet. Like Trickster, Heatwave, The Top, The Pied Piper, & Abra kadabra and just release them with their most attention seeking costumes so they can sell! Villains Rule!

While I like some of those costume variants, I tend to agree - especially when you add in duplicate aigures like the suited Riddler and long-hair Aquaman, and 'chase' variants like Sonic Cyborg and unmasked Deathstroke and Batman Beyond. This line should have seen much better choices than those...

Kind of disappointed that Matty didn't take advantage of Flash's event. Would love to see more of the rogues gallery of anyone out there. You've got a slew of characters and great sculptors at your disposal...use them

So far all of the Flash villains (Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Reverse-Flash and soon Mirror Master) are consistent with how they looked just before Flashpoint. Would people like future figures to be of this era, or Silver Age? Or should Mattel play it safe and do Dr Alchemy and Abra Kadabra next, who (like Cold and Mirror Master) had their Silver Age costumes as recently as Flash: Rebirth? I have to admit, I'd quite like to finish off this version of the Rogues:
