Let's do some simple math.
$180 / 12 = $15. That plus shipping is roughly the same price as the current retail price of DCUC figures. Plus you get Proty and a Legion ring as a nice little bonus. Not so bad when you look at it from that perspective. Unless of course you're a cherry picker instead of a completist.

not to mention an amazing package/Losh Tower, that is easy to take figures in and out of.
I also knew it would be at least $180, so call me a happy customer!

Anyone who expected the price to be significantly less than $180 clearly didn't do the math. I think its reasonable for what all we're getting. I'm still impressed by this set and the huge leap of faith Mattel is taking in offering it to us.

Thanks for the simple math lesson. That doesn't mean it's not expensive
Yes it does. Unless you think the per figure retail price is way too high too. In fact, the per-figure price WITH shipping will just be $16 and some change, which is less than what figures are going for at most every store now. Hell, some Targets are even jacking their DCUC price up to $19.99 now according to a report in another thread. Also keep in mind these are all brand new figures -- not a single repaint in the lot.

Dude
Buying one figure for 15-20 bucks = not a big deal
Buying 12 for 180 = expensive
It doesn't matter that the price is the same. How often do you buy 12 figures at once. It's a tough price to swallow and proty adds zero value to the set IMO.
I love when people go back and edit their posts

Dude!
Opinions differ, so lighten up.
How often do I buy that many figures at once? A lot. I'm a completist, not one who picks cherries. I've ordered full DCUC waves from BBTS and sometimes had a few back to back, as when the GL Classics waves came out at the same time as DCUC waves, or when the Batman Legacy singles and 2-packs came out around the same time as DCUC waves 17 and 18. But that's what credit cards are for. So in my OPINION... $180 isn't that big a deal, especially for a massive cool set like this.

Great review. And since I had this budgeted since last year (which I recall others advising people to do), the price is a complete non-issue for me.
Exactly! Wasn't this originally slated for release LAST November in time for Christmas? And then it got pushed back to Spring 2011. Then Summer 2011. And now Fall 2011. People who wanted this had over a year to save up their pennies.

I knew they'd tell us this this week because I burned an Ask Matty question on it and that's what they always do to me. (Though now we can wait and see if the Ask Matty answer gives us the runaround... )
I haven't saved up for this, so I'm not sure about October yet. I'm glad the Wind Raider is looking to slip out of October for MOTU. Be a lot nicer to just have to order Flipshot, Slimeblower Ray, and this without having to tack Wind Raiders on there. Hopefully, S.T.R.I.P.E. doesn't try to drain my wallet in that timeframe...
