Stick cotton wool around your finger Seriously though, I was expecting about $250-300 for the set, so $180 isn't so bad. It's expensive, but could be worse. My big problem is that I'm really lukewarm over the set. I first encountered the Legion with the Waid/Kitson series in 2004, so I'd prefer those designs, but at the same time I do kind of want these and will be kicking myself if I miss it and try to buy the set later at after-market prices. The other problem is how to hide a package that big from the customs man and then the wife... Jo

I think it's a lot of money, but it's not expensive.
It would be expensive if it was $250, because that's far above the retail cost. Considering how low production is on this, I'm cool with it. And no matter how few they made, let's face it - there's no way in hell this guy is gonna sell well in Matty terms.
Either way, even though I don't care at all about packaging, they really did some great work with it, and all the figures look great. Looking forward to adding them to my collection.

I would like to have this set, but doubt I can afford it, but mainly I just want Colossal Boy.

Did anyone else catch that he called Wildfire Megafire With Thomas the Train playing in the background and my a/c on I had to rewind it a couple of times to make sure. I'm looking forward to this. I'll have to show this to my wife and sell her on it, but I think I'll be getting it(hopefully). Kind of wish, since it is a mailaway, that we were getting the Grell Saturn Girl, but glad they didn't do his version of Cosmic Boy

I LOVE that movie.
If only they could've snuck in a cameo of Flaming Carrot I would've been beyond giddy.

I find this product puzzling from an economics point of view especially given Mattel's repeated talk about needing to sell a certain base number of figures to keep any particular line going. The production costs for 12 figures has to be high, and I'd imagine the production run will be smaller than normal since only so many folks will fork over nearly $200 for the set. From a pure money making point of view, I'd think they'd make more money selling them in groups of 2 or 3 every few months.

Then there are the scalpers who will buy multiple sets and break them up on Ebay. CCC.

I may be way off base, but I think that Mattel is counting on the die-hard, old-fart Legion fans like me to cough up the cash. The Legion has been a curse to DC. A literal legion of fans who constantly nag DC about the team. If Mattel can capture a portion of them they may actually make a profit from this venture. Hell, we may even see a substantial female Legion set as a follow on if this set sells well (wishful thinking).
