With the line coming to a close with wave 20, this thread is about the important characters who are missing. Yes, we've got the sub, and we're not entirely sure what we'll see for next year as far as the retail line goes, but where are the glaring holes at the moment?
As a disclaimer, by glaring holes I'm talking about A-B list characters - not the Metal Men or Doom Patrol, both of whom are definitely missing members, or different costumes (unless its a really obvious one).
My main pick here is Wally West. Jay would have been here as well but he's been confirmed for the sub.
Hook-hand Aquaman and Kyle in his first costume are also strong contenders for me, with Poison Ivy again not appearing because she's been confirmed for the sub.
So, which figures did you expect to be no-brainers, but never saw?
Jo

The sub is separate, but I have to concede that since the figures have already been confirmed then they're not really missing. BUT I'm sorry, to me if they give me part of a team and not the rest of it, they're missing.
So here's my relatively short list of the main "missing" characters.
1. Rest of the Metal Men 2. Rest of the Doom Patrol 3. Vixen 4. Huntress 5. Wally West Flash 6. Geoforce 7. Captain Marvel Jr. 8. Elongated Man 9. Aqualad / Tempest
Beyond that, for me at least there aren't a lot of missing characters. Now there are TONS of characters I still think should be made. But those to me are the biggest names.

I think texgnome1's list really hits the mark spot on. That's pretty much everybody.
As for the other characters that I would love to see done DCUC-style, there's still a surprisingly long list for me that includes characters like Alfred Pennyworth, Commissioner Gordon, Chronos, Sonar, and especially, Ultra the Multi-Alien. In other words, characters that no Mom would recognize, no kid would want, and no retailer would carry.

I said this earlier on when Wave 20 and the end was announced, but my respect and admiration for the line took a hit when they didn't finish up with rest of the Metal Men, Elasti-Girl and the two Flashes.
If they just did... Wally West Jay Garrick Lead, Tin and Platinum Elasti-Girl
...It would be perfect. Everything else could be subscription, Superman Legacy and Batman Legacy . I don't even think Huntress is that vital, and this is coming from someone who is a huge Batnerd and I don't even care for Flash. I mean, reading about Wave 19, I get that Magog is already pegwarming? That wouldn't be happening if it was Jay instead.
Oh well, water under the bridge. Sounds like the cancellation and the subscription came on pretty quickly. I'll try to get Jay and the Metal Men on Sale Day.

Well, for me, it's mostly the main DP & MM members, but I don't really "collect" DCUC figures. I just like the Metal Men & the Doom Patrol and a couple other random characters.
There's the glaring holes left by Tin, Lead, Platinum and Rita, and there's also Mento, Magnus, Chief & DP costumed Changeling, but I doubt we ever see them. Then there's also Copper, Mallah, Brain & Madame Rogue. Fat chance.
Personally, I'd be more interested in a Phantom Stranger or Ambush Bug figure than Capt Marvel Jr or Geoforce. There's so many c-list muscle-bound costumed super-guys. Why not shoot for some of the more off the cuff characters?

For me: Wally West Flash Elongated Man (last of the satellite era) Huntress Aqualad/Tempest (the only original Titan missing) After 20 waves, there's really no excuse for not getting those. We got Killer Moth, Kamandi, and Vigilante but not these guys? Ah, well. I expect the sub to get us one or two of these this year. And Batman Legacy should get us Huntress. And maybe, just maybe, the DCnU line will see fit for a varient Flash that's got Wally's look.

D'OH! Shell listed the two I knew I'd forgotten. Have to agree with Elongated Man and Aqualad / Tempest. Both of those really should have been done by now, for exactly the reasons he listed. So much so that I edited my post.
And no offense Shish, but the fact that they made so many low level characters is exactly why we don't have the full Metal Men and Doom Patrol teams yet. I'm all for them, but I wish they'd swapped out one or two along the way.
And I really only listed CM Jr because he's another team completer. Plus he was a Teen Titan, so there's that tie-in.

Logic says to me...we have so many uncompleted teams, that those gusy are "not" no brainers, or they would be done.
The big one that jumps out to me is Wally West. He's been our flash (minus the last 14 months or so) for the last 20 years. Leaving out one of the core seven of the JLA seems to be the only real no brainer I can think of.
I never consider a non Batman/Superman variant to be a no brainer. Sure Kyle Rayner, Aquaman Hook hand...etc, would be nice...but I'd be thinking no brainer if we had never received any version of those characters.
Off the top of my head I can't think of any others that jump out at me (knowing who is coming). Possibly huntress.

For me, there are still loads of Bat characters that I'd love to see done, but I'll hope the Batman sub line and the Matty sub will cover those. Characters that are DC general would be...
Aqualad / Tempest Mirror Master Wally West Flash Vandal Savage

In addition to the ones mentioned, I'd have to name:
Fire, Ice, and Rocket Red -- iconic, long-standing members of the JLI, which has experienced an upswing in popularity in recent years. Plus, Rocked Red could conceivably be an army builder AND a striking oversized character.
The Shade -- a Flash villain, a Golden Age/JSA villain, and an important antihero/supporting cast member from Starman (especially since we got the father and son Starmen in wave 15 and a whole JSA-themed wave with 19).

Good lists by all. Although it's tempting to add my own favorites or list out a few dozen characters, here's who I think are the more glaring omissions from the greatest line of DC action figures:
Flash Wally West Elongated Man Green Arrow (Silver Age) Green Lantern Kyle Rayner (original costume) Huntress Adam Strange (classic costume) Phantom Stranger Supergirl (Bronze Age) Aquaman (hook/beard) Black Lightning (original costume) Zatanna (Perez costume) Aqualad (Silver Age) Speedy (Silver Age) Wonder Girl (Silver Age) Mera Zauriel Impulse Oracle Ra's al Ghul Chronos The Shade Flash Rogues Psycho Pirate Ocean Master Parallax
...not to mention the rest of the Metal Men & Doom Patrol, and the Freedom Fighters, All-Star Squadron...

For me, it would all come down to completing teams in various eras. Even combining DC Direct with Mattel's DCUC and DCSH, there are still some holes.
edit - updated list because of "no brainer' comment.
DCUC / DCSH exclusively:
JL of A (Satellite Era) -Elongated Man
JLI -Rocket Red
JLA (Morrison Porter art) -Flash Wally West -Huntress
JLofA (Meltzer/McDuffie Benes art) -Vixen -Geo Force (he was there for the JSA cross over)
Titans -Tempest
Teen Titans / Young Justice -Impulse -Static
That's 9 new characters. Any three of which could have replaced Green Arrow, White Lantern Flash and Sinestro in wave 20.

I'm excluding variants, but I see a few more that I agree with (in bold) from the 2 I mentioned based on what did come out in the lines.
