How many of you bought the sub with your main intent to finish lines (Doom patrol, metal men, etc)

Looking back (which is why I'm getting rid of a few of the figures already)...I don't even care about those groups. There is that small flicker in me that is hoping for 2-3 figures and that will make it all worth it

What are you guys realistically hoping for? What was your driving force in getting the DCUC sub?

I would love to finish groups and add to existing groups, but I just love the DCUC line overall and thought the subscription would be a great way to get characters that would not show up in the retail line. That is my expectation of the sub.

That's why Atrocitious bothered me; he can obviously use a retail slot, especially being undersized. To a lesser extent, I can say the same about Ivy, but I like the character (so I am using a selfish double standard here) and she is a female character that may not make it to a retail line (although the Batman Legacy line says differently).

My driving force is the continued production of B, C, and D-lister characters in the DCUC format, as well as more female characters (which TPTB believe don't sell well).

Many of my most wanted figures from DC (Mera, Aqualad, Dolphin, Ocean Master, Huntress, Vixen, Elongated Man, etc.) fall into those categories.

While I'm sure there'll be characters I don't care for in the sub, I'm willing to take that risk. Right now, I'm running 4/5. Two of them are must haves (Jay and Ivy). Two of them are decent (Atrocitus, Metron). One I would have passed on if he was hanging from the pegs and didn't have a CnC part I needed (Starboy).

However, knowing I was getting Starboy and that I already have Validus, helped tip my hand towards getting the Legion pack, and I'm pretty happy with my choice.

So to sum up: team completion, not so much. Ever increasing plumbing of the depths of the DCUC, very much so.

My main reason for buying the sub is that I want the DCUC line to give me all 3000+ characters.

ALL OF THEM!

Completed teams, costume changes, obscure, well known, bizarre, and even those that are best left forgotten.

I want a toy of all of them.

So, I bought the sub. And I'll continue to buy at retail.
And I'll stay signed up/all in into there isn't a character left to make.

I'm selling off any and all Doom Patrol and Metal Men that I get in the sub to a fellow AFier, so that certainly wasn't a selling point for me. I'm more interested in all the other corners of the DCU. Legion, modern JSA, Birds of Prey, Teen Titans, Justice League etc. Between the sub and the retail line, I hope to have one awesome ass DCUC (or whatever it'll be then) collection come this time next year and beyond.

I got two actually, in the event that there are extra heads/parts offered that I'd want to display both. I'm a completist with the line (though I do still have a few older slots to fill) and it will combine shipping nicely with the MOTUC subs I have (and the GB one I would've had...).

No sub for me :( I only want the Doom Patrol and Metal Men. My DCUC collecting is slowing down a bit. If any of you are selling off your DCIE Metal Men and Doom Patrol PLEEEEEASSSE think of me!! :)

I'll try to get Garrick and some Batman and Gl stuff if I can get through Matty/Digital River. That's my only hope.

I too think Atrocitus should have been a retail offering. He has his own monthly comic. He's going to be in a cartoon. It just makes sense, but I know why they used him as a big hook for DCIE. Oh well.

I didnt get it-- because all of the teams that they were going to complete first- I didnt get the other members for--

If they had told me Secret Six, Modern Teen Titans and Birds of Prey - I would have been on board.. So now I will be "cherry picking" at extra cost - the figures I want-- which at the current rate looks like maybe 2 a year (since I only want Ivy)

Alas I did not buy a sub because I'm a cherry picker, I'm ok with buying Poison Ivy for 25.00 and Huntress for 25.00.

The problem with finishing groups is most groups have gone through so many flavors it is unlikely they'll ever do them all.

Doom Patrol for example has gone through five roster changes basically.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Do ... ol_members

So which roster are they supposed to do?

Finish the classic roster first (ya know, since that's the one that is already started) ...

... and then move on to all the others!

How so? All 6 of the original members are also in the forth and 5 of them are in the 3rd and 5th along with quite a few more people. My point is after decades of comic books teams have changed over and over and over so the whole "finish the team argument" is invalid imo. I count over 30+ just for Doom Patrol alone.

I always though when people said finish the team... they mean whatever incarnation of a team was close to being completed. Like Classic Titans or Marv Wolfman's Titans... those two versions are close to completion, like one or two figures shy of being finished.

Agreed Van Statten ...

to go back to the DP as the example...

Start with the Original, 1st appearance team.

Robotman (we have)
Negative Man (we have)
Rita Farr (needed)
Chief (needed)

+/- as you see fit: Mento, Gar Logan (purple skinned)

DP II: Need them all including a new Robotman
DP III: need them all

and so on and so forth.

Even the most recent incarnation of the team, although being the "original membership" is still depicted in new forms with new costumes, therefore, that "team" hasn't been started yet.

So, as I originally said...

"Finish" the original team, and then give us all the other ones!

If you use the TT as your team example:
Robin, Kid Flash, Speedy, Wonder Girl, and Aqualad
I say we have 2 of the above (depending on your use of Robin from DCUC 16?)

Wolfman/Perez:
Robin/Nightwing (we possibly have this Robin, but definitely NOT this Nightwing yet)
Wonder Girl/Troia/Donna Troy (all very different incarnations of the character in very different costumes represeting different eras in the teams history)
Cyborg (have)
Changeling (have)
Kid Flash (need)
Raven (have)
Jericho (need)

depending on where you want to go with this team there are several +/- characters like: Mal, Bumblebee, Kole, Lillith, and so on.

You could easily "complete" the teams in the short form, or you could keep adding on figures until you get the "extended" rosters.

Your personal mileage and preferences may vary, but if you really get down to looking at each character in their relationship to each team you can put together "complete" teams with just a few key releases.
