So in twenty years, do you think people will still be collecting vintage JLU the way that collectors collect Super Powers today? If so, look at your collection, in twenty years, imagine having to piece this all together! LOL But seriously, what are you thoughts?

After the government shutdown and ensuing worldwide chaos, in the post apocalyptic future, JLU figs will hold no value.
Hey, it's just a guess!

In twenty years they will probably be so collectable that they will start making a line of non vintage JLU copies and even start making some new ones that were never made the first time around.
Heck, that's what they are doing now with some of the older DC toy-lines.

in 20 years, we'll be looking at one of the greatest DC lines ever.
In 30 years, they'll start making singles again for 32.99 a piece.

In 30 years, they'll start making singles again for 32.99 a piece. In 1987 the people didn't know what they had. In 2011 they do. Which is why I'm not sure we'll see the JLU, or even DCUC type love that we've seen for Super Powers. Why? Because too many people are thinking that way. Maybe in 40-50 years, but I don't think in 20.

In 20 years, we'll be asking Mattel-Hasbro if they still plan to re-release Volcana.

Times have changed with the internet. I think a lot more people are treating collections as investments than they were back then.

I always want to agree with this myself but I don't think it's as prevalent as we'd like to believe. It always seems that way but the better part of valor is people just give up and these 'investments' are sold off cheap or forgotten about.I remember when the '89 Batman movie came out and people were 'investing' in those Toy Biz figures. The same thing happened with the Spider-Man animated series figures and etc...

It'll be interesting to see, that's for sure. Look at it this way: The 1st wave of Batman animated figures is about 20 years old. Try finding a Combat Belt Batman for a decent price today. With the level of dedication fans of this line have, I think it's a safe bet there will still be some enthusiasm for it in 20 years (barring the collapse of civilization, of course ). Plus, I think many of us are package openers. And with the Paint problems this line is known to have, it's going to get tougher and tougher to find figures (especially the rare ones) that still look good. Prices could go up. But then again, toy collectors are fickle mofos. A lot of people may forget all about JLU in 5 years, never mind 20.

I think the JLU line pulled in a lot of collectors that weren't into toy collecting for a long time. I know I didn't collect anything since I was a kid until JLU came out. BTAS compliments it, but isn't comparable.

In 20 years, we'll have 3-D printers in our homes (think of them as plausible replicators from Star Trek) and Mattel will be selling "patterns" online. It won't matter how small the JLU fan base is as there will be practically no production costs to them. And customizers will hack the patterns to print out their custom figures. Stocks in Kneadatite and Sculpey will plummet but it will be a Golden Age for JLU fans everywhere!
Then five years later, robot monkeys will eat all of our brains.

That's hard to say. If Mattel ever gets a GOOD DC 3.75 inch off the ground (a la Hasbro's MU), then I think JLU will disappear into the ether. If not, then JLU will be the premiere smaller scale DCU action figure line.
But in 20 years, comics will be dead, so I don't think most super hero action figures will anything but landfill.

I hate to sound negative but I honest to god doubt many JLU figures will exist in 20 years. I mean the plastic is so cheap many of the later figures will be molded or dust. I plan on sealed my JLU figures in those bag things that suck the air out.

Shellhead wrote: But in 20 years, comics will be dead, so I don't think most super hero action figures will anything but landfill. That's a valid point, but I think it only applies to printed comics. I think digital comics (or who knows, maybe some other form) will still be around. Comics have been around for a good long time, I think they'll survive the change in format. The medium still has appeal. I've heard it said a lot recently that more people read comics than ever, the problem is just that no one is paying for them anymore (and at $4 a pop, who can blame them). And even if comics die, there's still TV and movies. The characters will stick around. 20 years is really not that long in the grand scheme of things.
