Mmm... and the donation center would then turn around and give it to a Children's Hospital. And the Children's Hospital would probably forget they had a $3,000 dollar toy. So instead of auctioning it, someone would eventually end up throwing it in the Toy Bin (along with all the other Legos & Barbies) so that the sick children would have another toy to play with. 'Cause at the end of the day... Toys are toys, and they are meant for children.

And that my friends, is the story of how Woody Mongul lived through the plot of Toy Story 2 and 3. Give or take some other minor details.

ha, ha! Very true. That does make a lot of sense.

I would do this just to spite Mattel, pretty much giving them a big middle finger... ha! ha! ha!... Ahem, and I know that many of you are thinking something like: "how could you just give it away, when many of us would want it?" the truth is: I couldn't just give it to anyone here, as everyone would hate that I didn't choose them. ;)

D.

There are a lot of stupid posts in this thread. Such as this one. This is the stupidest thread of the year. Yeah, it's January but I doubt we are going to be able to top it.

Wow... please tell us how you really feel Fone Bone, and please spare no details...
seriously though it's called a joke, I think you need to lay off the coffee a little, buddy. ;)

Thing is, no one but the folks here at AFI would know how much the toy was worth, so it would just be seen as an ugly peach skinned purple alien action figure, either way all that matters is that I gave him to charity... for the kids, ;)

The reason why the idea is stupid is because if you had $1200 it would actually make sense to just donate directly to the hospital. Donating a $1200 toy for kids to play with unaware of its worth is just throwing money away. You aren't helping the needy, you're thumbing your nose at them.

I'm reminded of an episode of M*A*S*H where Charles donated (I think) some fine chocolate to a local orphanage and was then outraged when the head of the orphanage didn't give it to the children. Instead, the guy sold it. When Charles confronted him about it, the man told Charles that he sold the chocolate so he could get things for the kids that they really needed, things that would support them long term. Great episode.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I hate threads like this. If someone isn't already paying close enough attention to have seen it, too bad for them. I check ebay every few days. All this does is bring in people to drive up the bid. If it were a new item I could understand, but it's not.

I think he is joking. I mean... the only person that would benefit from this deal is the Factory Employee who stole the figure and got $3,000 dollars for it. Him, and of course, me!!! 'Cause I would go to the orphanage and offer the kids a trade. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, John Stewart, Lex Luthor and Brainiac for their ugly purple alien Mongul. And how many kids do you know that would pass on the opportunity to get 6 figures instead of one???

Eh???

Exactly!!!

Checkmate!!!

Then again... if I had $3,000 to throw away... well... let me put it this way... Do you know how many lapdances you can buy with $3,000 dollars?

Yikes, I check a couple of times every day. Am I OCD or justa JLU junkie?

And Backward Galaxy, you are correct. They were from one of the oldest and finest chocoletiers in all of Boston. Yep, I'm also a M*A*S*H junkie.

That's lower than all the others I've seen.

Yes, and I'm kind of curious as to why it went so low.

Lol! That would be a shame if some people actually did get scared off by this thread.

I capped my bid at $150.

Never really thought I would win it, (and at that price I was really hoping I wouldn't) but hey, if I won I'd be a happy camper when the box arrived.
