All night I've been mulling over grabbing a He-Man and BG Teela and some stands before this sale ends in a few hours, but their shipping really brings up the overall cost of these items. Makes me want to just pass and take my chance on finding them elsewhere. Plus, I cringe at sending more money to Mattycollector and DR since I've had bad experiences in the past.

I have a Skeletor and a Battlecat, so it feels like I should have a He-Man too. But no plastic toy is worth enabling a bad business.

And no, AFI, I'm, not a Mattel whiner. They make great figures and and do what they can to make customers happy, but years of personal negative experiences on the website and at retail have accumulated to an overall negative feeling towards Mattel action figure collecting. I should probably just enjoy what I have and let go of the whole Matty game.

I don't think many of us would defend Digital River. They pretty much suck.

I ended up getting nothing this year. In previous years, I scooped up JLU and DCUC figures, along with a few MOTU figures and other exclusives. This year, nada. But I had already bought the figures I wanted at full price anyway, so there was nothing I really wanted.

I was surprised the SDCC exclusives lasted all week, even at a discount. I thought they would all sell out quickly. Did Mattel overproduce, or were the exclusives just not that interesting to collectors?

I think the exclusives just weren't that good.

I agree. I didn't get any Mattel exclusives this year because they weren't all that interesting.

I wanted the mini masters- but after shipping- they were more than on ebay anyway-- (and at least there I get ebay bucks)

I'm really surprised they didn't clear out their remaining JLU stock at some point...I assume they still have some left, no?

That's one reason I passed on them, too. Those shipping prices just suck.

This sale was incredibly underwhelming - and I'm sure next year's will be even worse. I miss the good old days, which weren't even that good to being with.

I liked the MOTU mini masters, too. And the DCU Shazam turned out to be a decent figure. But I had already picked up both at SDCC. I'm guessing the only hot seller this year was the Monster High doll.

I agree with all of you on the shipping. It's too high, even with the Cyber Monday discount. And because Fisher-Price is located in upstate New York, I have to pay taxes on anything I buy from Matty. It all adds up.

It's actually located in East Aurora, NY.

My home town!

Awesome! In that case, would you mind picking up the tab for my sales tax at Matty?

I know its not for collectors and probably a different fullfilment/warehouse group than Matty, but its even tougher for me to swallow their shipping-- when I have been getting slammed with 25% or more + free shipping discounts from both Mattel Toyshop and Hasbro Toy Shop online- (and most of the free shipping is with no minimum order..)

Yeah, why they just can't fold Mattycollector into shop.mattel.com I don't know.

The whole model is skewed. Its gotten better, but its still nowhere near what it should be for today's eCommerce marketplace.

Especially when there's not much left to COLLECT on that site now anyway. They killed all their online DC lines, plus Ghostbusters. What's left in 2014 for MattyCollector? Just MOTUC as far as I can see. Might as well rename it MOTUCCollector.com.
