I think it's safe to think that a lot of people will start collecting DCUC when they are released, but I was thinking that a five figure starter set of previously released figures would be a fun starting point for these new collectors. Toys-R-Us has had several DC box sets this year from all the DC toylines except DCSH. I think my starter set idea would be quite timely. Five figures for about $40.00. Superman and Batman would have to be in it, but the rest could be the best figures that the 4H have made so far. Re-paints might also be a good idea (like brown Man-Bat). Here's the line-up I would like: Superman (Standard) Batman (Black and grey) Man-Bat (Brown) Mongul (Standard) Supergirl (Black and silver) (I know a lot of you may disagree with Supergirl, but this is my list) -Seth!

YES! As long as it is available internationally.
Given how little has been released down under, I'd love to be able to buy the following sets:
1. Superman - Superman (standard) with yellow "S" on cape - Supergirl (blue costume version) - Lex Luthor - Bizarro (with name tag)
2. Batman - Batman (black and grey) - Batgirl (black and grey) - Two-Face - Catwoman
I'm a little reluctant to get into DCU (if it is even released down under) since I don't really have any of the "basic" figures that I would want in my collection (basically, those listed above).
I'd be much more inclined to building up a full collection if I could at least start with the "heavy hitters" so to speak.
Cheers.

Like the idea of themed starter sets.
Gotta get a Supes with S-shield on cape.
Still don't know if we are getting these in the U.K. So far very little from the DC Superheroes line has surfaced at mass market.

I think they should do two- one Superman, one Batman. (although Batman is in DCUC series one...) Hmm. Superman box: Superman Supergirl(like black and silver idea- maybe with a blue and yellow variant for those who didn't find that figure) Darkseid Cyborg Superman Clark Kent Batman box: Barbara Gordon Batgirl Two-Face(classic outfit repaint) Bruce Wayne(on Clark Kent body) Azrael Catwoman Val

No. No more exclusive SuperBat waves. Let the rest of us who aren't obsessed with the big 2 have our time now.

Personally, I agree with Gardner Grayle. We've been buried with Supes and Bats figures from Mattel. I want to see some of the other characters, not more of the same... Now, that said, I think that WM, Target & TRU would probably flip for the starter sets and although I'm not interested, I can see where they could have an appeal to the unwashed masses...

A DCUC started set for me should have both heroes and villains box set featuring:
Heroes
Superman (classic) Batman (black and grey) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) Wonder Woman Flash (Wally West)
Villains
Lex Luthor (Armor) Joker (Classic threads) Sinestro Cheetah Captain Cold
Since most of these figures are already out (or at least on their way) Mattel could use old molds and release them by Christmas 2008 in case they have yet to fix their distribution issues. This way, they could give us a chance to get these figures.

They are not suggesting new waves, or shipping again the existign figures as waves, but a BOXED SET for those who missed the Supes Bats figures the first time around. Considering Mattel has done that for TheBatman and JLU, its not too much of a stretch. It might be a cool way to get some harder to fit characters in the line such as Alfred.

I think they need restart with the return of special 2 packs again like the Target exclusives.
This would let them release previous figures.
Batman vs. Killer Croc
Azrael vs. Bane
Superman vs. Doomsday
Supergirl vs. Brainiac
But then I sometimes wonder if Mattel is interested in making money.

I can't imagine there won't be a gift set available at some point. It's practically mandated by most toy companies.

I'm against the idea in that I would not be buying it. Name a DC based box set at retail that didn't go on to hit clearance? The box sets usually don't have much in terms of new figures to draw in collectors and to me, a good boxset will attract parents as well as collectors. Don't alienate either group and you can sell through your product. With only the Brown Man Bat in it as a selling point to me, I'd just hold out until clearance.

I would go for a Batman set if they did:
- Batman (blue with black shading on mask and tights) - Batgirl (Babs repaint with black tights and brighter yellow gloves/boots/belt etc.) - Man-Bat (brown repaint) - Catwoman (new head with goggles off her face) - Joker (cloth trenchcoat and fidora)

This would actually tempt me to refute my earlier decision to not get involved in this line. I was going to, but it's just too daunting of a task with everything that's already been released.
