Post subject: Idea for a DCUC 1 Batman variant!
PostPosted: Thu Oct 18, 2007 5:15 pm
Needless to say, I am definitley looking foward to DCUC series 1. The new "classic" Batman looks great and is a badass representation of the classic Super-Friends/Silver Age Bats as only the 4H can sculpt him.

However, as a big fan of the 1989 film, I had this idea. Why not just give Classic Batman an all black variant? The symbol would of course be yellow, and his belt could be painted gold. Mattel did give us an all-black Batman in their preschool line, so why not in DCUC? It would also be a cool nod to the old DARK KNIGHT movie line, where the Keaton Batman was essentially a repaint of the Super Powers toy (with a new head, and resculpted parts.) Even the recent DCSH Joker looks like his paintjob was inspired by the old "Knock-Out" Joker from that series.

As a fan of the classic blue/gray look as well as the "movie" look, I would no doubt go out of my way to buy both versions. Am I the only one who would be up for an all black DCUC 1 Batman?

I could live with that for a variant but it still wouldn't be my first choice... TG's post about the other variant that's replacing the robot penguin Penguin has me worried though because he says something to the extent that we'll have to be "eagle-eyed" to find it... I'm hoping that it's not some really, really minor change like the chrome/non-chrome "S" on Steel or the OWAW "S" and red eyes on Superman... A battle-damaged Batman would be welcome considering the fantastic job Mattel's been able to do with the animated style "battle-damage" and making it look dimensional...

All I'd like it a classic Batman without the black on the cowl.

poe, for the second time, its a shadow. the reason the eyebrows arent shadowed is because the are raised up enough the shadow cant reflect on them.

I agree with Poe. Painted shadows just look weird to me. Nothing like displaying a toy in a well-lit room, and having a big black spot on it.

It needs to go.

I personally don't mind it. I'm already happy with the Series 1 shadow-less blue Batman. This i think makes this unique. Otherwise, the only real change is the logo and altered belt (which aint much).

Sides if ya REALLY want a classic Batman without shadow, you can always go for the SDCC Batman. Let the ones who want it have this variation as well.

this is great and would buy this but would have to lose the trunks to be comic accurate, Bats wore the darker colors like your pic with the yellow oval batsymbol when he returned from his vacation after defeating Azreal Batman and during that time off leaving Dick in charge and Dick wore the old Batcostume, Bats wore the darker colors without the trunks and yellow oval batsymbol until No Man Lands story was over then he wore the black trunks and batsymbol and still does to this day as we all know

uhhh, no it doesn't, this is a comic represented Batman, and is comic accurate like it is but to be more comic accurate would need the dark shading on the trunks and inside of the cape but I will take it with the shading as is, buy it or don't but don't muck it up for us who want our Bats comic accurate
