Mattel recently said the any animated figures would come out after all the movie figures, so that is a ways off still. I think we'll see the other two movie figures this weekend if we're lucky and that's about it.

Ghostbusters news:

one new 6" figure every other month:

August - Egon Spengler with Slimer
October - Ray Stanz with the logo ghost
December - Winston Zedmore with ghost trap
March 2010 - Walter Peck with ghost containment unit
May 2010 - Peter Venkman

12" GB Movie Masters line on Matty: Egon will be available later this fall, Ray near New Years, Venkman in April, Winston in July.

Mattel is considering an Ecto-1, though it will be difficult to price-out and make it affordable. They are also working on a large-scale Stay-Puft.

They may do Ghostbusters in a different scale that would let them do playsets. That may be more likely if the new film comes together.

Mattel is working on a redo of the Real Ghostbusters toy line, too.

Mattel is going to be testing my spending limits this year! The 12-Inch and 6-Inch lines both look good! It's nice to see Venkman and Winston and both looking good. In fact, only Ray looks 'eh' to me, in both scales. I don't know which line I will collect -- I may justify the 12-Inch line just because it's four and done (for me) -- but with them all spread out, whatever I pickup shouldn't be *too* bad on the wallet. Now the display space is another matter entirely...

I'm relieved to see the Venkman figures on display. I was so worried that Bill Murray would screw them over and prevent his likeness from being used again, which is what happened with the Neca Ghostbusters line a few years ago. It looks like everything is sculpted and approved now, and I can rest easy when ordering the first figures, knowing the rest will be available too. I've wanted movie-based Ghostbusters since I was a kid, and would never settle for the ridiculous looking cartoon versions. These are a dream come true. Walter Peck was an added surprise, and shows that they aren't going to stop with just the 4 Ghostbusters if this line sells well. We might get Louis Tully and Dana Barrett too!

The more I look at these, the more I am leaning towards the 12-Inch Ghostbusters. Besides Ray, I really like the way these look. I think it's the messiness of the 12-Inch figures that I like -- all the junk hanging off their belts, zippered pockets all over the jumpsuits, kind of a disheveled look that they had in the films. The 6-Inch figures almost look too clean too me; too streamlined and not junky enough.

I have until August 3rd to make a decision (if I am even at a computer at that time and if I can even get onto Matty.com).

These figures are looking better and better to me. Between these and the Masters of the Universe Classics, I might have to get a second job, haha.

I have a hunch Mattel was able to throw a little more money at him than NECA was.

Yes! Though I'll pick up all of the movie figures, I loved the Real Ghostbusters as a kid. This excites me the most!
